I've owned since 1992, purchased from Seattle man who had owned the car since 1979 (IVY711 registration was issued in 1979). I believe that I am the third owner from new.

Auction description:

Year 1974
Make Jaguar
Model Series 3 E-Type
Body Roadster
Color Blue
Interior Blue
VIN/SERIAL UE1S23577BW

This Jaguar XKE V-12 Series 3 Roadster is a numbers-matching "garage-find" example that has had just one owner since 1992. The car has sat in storage since 1996, almost totally unused and displayed in the basement recreation room of the owner's house next to an XK120 Roadster and his mini bar - and still wearing a set of Pirelli P77s date coded from July of 1984! The car remains in unrestored condition and presents superbly with one trim-off repaint of extremely high quality that was carried out in the late 1980s for the previous owner. It has been sparingly driven since and, indeed, the 54,734 miles showing on the odometer are believed to be correct and original. A professional inspection, fresh fluids, four new tires, and a new battery were fitted to get this XKE back on the road. The car comes with three sets of keys, an original sales brochure, owner's manual, selected servicing records, extensive ownership documentation, the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, photos of the car in its static state, the spare wire wheel, jack, and rare original factory removable hard top. Other notable features include factory air conditioning and Borg Warner automatic transmission, chrome wire wheels, vintage Nardi wood rim steering wheel, and all-original leather interior. The car is listed in the XKE Registry.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
