History:
First registered in 1973, the gorgeous V12 on offer here is showing just under 61,000 miles on the clock which is believed to be genuine. An automatic model (well, you need some velvet around that iron fist), it has a lovely original black leather interior, a Webasto sunroof and will have a new headlining fitted before the sale.
It is said to drive exceptionally well ? in 2004 the current owner (who runs a Jaguar tuning company among his many other interests) overhauled all the running gear. This included replacing all the suspension bushes, the wishbones and all fuel lines. The braking system was also completely renewed with the fitment of new calipers, discs and pads all round plus new stainless steel aeroquip hoses. The carbs were also rebuilt, new exhaust manifolds fitted and electronic ignition installed. It further benefits from a special stainless steel performance exhaust.
In short, this car drives just the way a properly sorted V12 should. Taxed and MOT'd, it is ready to jump into and enjoy and should give its new owner a life-enhancing experience every time he sees it on the drive, let alone turns the key. In our opinion Series 3 E-Type FHCs are seriously good value at the moment ? this is a massive amount of car for a modest sum of money.
