Ebay item 4/3/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1973-etype-roadster-v12-auto-texas-carNO-R ...
Current bid $6,600, no reserve, 15 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Super nice ,great running and driving jag roadster, this car was in mississippi for most of its life then it landed in texas when I bought it. I have put on a new black canvas top,new stainless exhaust resonator, new leather seats and armrest, gas tank cleaned, all carbs disassembled and cleaned, new michelin tires, all gauges work except the tach? all lights work even the backup lites and seat belt buzzers work!!! All this recent work was not cheap but I wanted a car that you can enjoy, there is still a little gas dripping from the tank drain area but very little? This car comes with the original owners manual and miscellaneous paperwork, the original spare tire and wheel have never been on the car! This is a smoothe running cool temperature,LOW ORIGINAL MILE JAGUAR, this car has very little to no rust ,the floors are great, the engine compartment, trunk compartment and dash area are all excellent,I believe that you can fly in and drive this one home. I am tired of haggling and want a real buyer that does not expect a new 100 point restored car for the price of a good car. there is some chrome that should be replated, and a few nicks and chips, and the carpet is original and showing it's age but i am not asking 50,000 like everyone else is !!

Bought from used car dealer in Mcallen Texas. Car didn't run nearing as well as advertised.....but does now. Work I've done in the last year... new timing chain and tensioner, front oil seal, "Fireball" electronic ignition, KONI shocks front and back, rebuilt calipers with SS pistons, ceramic brake pads, new drilled and slotted rotors, added tonneau cover, replaced lot's of little pieces that were missing or worn.

Car returns to ebay 3/2/12

Current bid $22,100 reserve not met, 15 bids 6 days left in auction. Car still in Melbourne, Florida. Description states 31k miles not 21k miles as mentioned in the text.

Sellers description:
VERY LOW MILEAGE, GREAT RUNNING and driving jag roadster. Comes with black canvas top, convertable hardtop, and tonneau cover. I bought the car about five years ago with only 21,500 miles, and drive it regularly. The engine runs like new, with excellent oil pressure and no oil use between changes. Runs cool even in the Florida summers.

Work performed during my 5 year ownership includes:

Heads rebuilt with "staked-in" valve seats.
Re-cored radiator.
Timing chain replaced.
New stainless exhaust, resonator with proper 4-way tip.
Gas tank cleaned and sealed.
Carbs disassembled and cleaned.
New ceramic brake pads.
New "drilled" and "slotted" brake rotors.
Brake calipers rebuilt with Stainless Steel Pistons.
New brake master cylinder
New KONI shocks
New modern Crane "Fireball" electronic ignition
New modern quiet and dependable rotary style fuel pump
New tachometer cable
New Michelin Tires

In addition:
I have changed the ugly '73 style front bumpers to the ealier '71/72, or European style.
All lights and gauges work, except seat belt buzzer, but only because I disconnected it.
Has original, unused, spare tire
A/C is complete but not working. Compressor works, needs new hoses.
Clock works, but loses about 5 minutes a day
Interior is original, worn but servicable, except door panels which are new.
Paint looks decent from a few feet away, but has chips.
Body has small dent in driver side pillar. (See pictures)
Includes jack and knock-off hammer (not original)

Additional Thoughts/Comments
New Timing Chain "Tensioner". These go bad with age and are the Achilles heel of this engine. They are major effort/expense to replace. This engine has a brand new one along with the new timing chain mentioned above.

Correction: The small dent mentioned above is on the passenger side door pillar, not the drivers side.

Additional Feature - Has a powered radio antenna, rear passenger side fender. Goes up and down with the ignition key.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
