Ebay item 5/13/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Series-III-/371326264437
Opneing bid US $50,000 reserve not met no bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This exceptional Series 3 Roadster has covered just 40,000 miles from new. In the care of a long term owner the car was purchased in 1996 with just 35,000 miles on it, so in the intervening 20 years he only put 5,000 miles on the car. We recently acquired the car from his estate, and have found it to be an exceptional original car. It runs and drives absolutely perfectly and even the A/C works. The car is in excellent condition throughout, and the seats exhibit just the right amount of patina. They would redye well but we have chosen to leave them as is. The often collasped head rest foam is in good order here owing to its indoor storage. This unusual color combination is quite striking in person, I am not sure these photographs really do the car justice. There are many hard to find original items under the hood that are often gone in these cars such as the vacuum hose connector, the undercarriage shield, and much more. This is really a pretty amazingly well preserved example. The original top does have a few tears on the drivers side where it stresses when collapsed, but otherwise this car needs nothing but a happy new owner. Books, tools, and records, accompany the car.

Car to be at auction 10/15
www.worldwide-auctioneers.com/auctions/details.cfm

Auction description:
1973 Jaguar XKE Series III OTS Roadster
2015 The Auburn Auction
CHASSIS NO: UDTS21667
• Preservation Car
• Jaguar V-12 Power
• 42,000 Miles Since New

Offered here is an exceptional example of this classic roadster, a Series III OTS that has only covered a mere 42,000 miles since new. This Series III has been very well-cared for throughout its life and today presents as a remarkably preserved car. It was recently acquired from an estate and a thorough inspection has revealed it to be a remarkably preserved car, both mechanically and in appearance. Finished in a beautiful gold with a black interior, its exterior appearance is nicely set off by Jaguar's wire spoke wheels. It also features a chrome luggage rack on the rear deck and all trim work is nicely preserved. The interior is exactly what one would expect from a Series III Jaguar with a driver's compartment that's pure sports car all the way. Sitting behind the wheel of this car gives a great view of the massive bonnet up front while a finely laid out dashboard neatly houses all gauges. The interior is nicely preserved with seats that are soft and supple while carrying just the right patina for a preservation condition car. The heartbeat of this Series III is its finely crafted V-12 engine. The massive size of this 285 horsepower wonder is impressive, but the acceleration and torque in a light sports car is something that has to be experienced to fully appreciate. The unmolested condition of this survivor is demonstrated in several areas as it still retains parts such as the vacuum hose connector and undercarriage shield, items that are usually missing from most Series III cars. This Jaguar also retains its factory books and tools and is also equipped with air conditioning that is in excellent working order.

This example, with its preserved condition, is a "driver quality" car that displays well and drives even better. Touring on a fine summer day doesn't get any better than behind the wheel of a Series III Jaguar with its excellent handling and V-12 power.

I purchased this car in January 2016, the car has now been exported back to the UK, it is now located within 25 miles from where it was originally built at the Browns Lane Factory. it does need a little work but is in very good condition.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
