Car offered at:

www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/jaguar/xke/2604583.html

Seller's description:

This very nice example has a known history and has been in the current owner's care for nearly 20 years. The car was repainted in its original livery by the leading local Jaguar restoration shop fairly recently, and a new top and Interior leather were installed by Muncie Imports- the leading Jaguar Interior facility in the country. The car runs and drives very well and needs nothing really to be immediately enjoyed.

Please note the car was not detailed for these photos. I believe this car will clean up very well and we will reshoot the car once this has been accomplished. A Jaguar Heritage Certificate has been ordered, although we believe this car is exactly as it left the factory. .

Lot #217561

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, and features include a tan soft top, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, a Nardi steering wheel, and a CD stereo. This Series III E-Type was acquired by the current owner in 2002 and is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, service records, a tonneau cover, a tool kit, spare parts, and an Indiana title, listing it as a 1973 model year.

The car is finished in British Racing Green and was reportedly repainted in 2013. A replacement tan soft top was also installed at that time, and additional features include uncovered headlights, US-spec bumpers, a rear luggage rack, and a forward-hinged louvered hood. A black tonneau cover is included in the sale. The left rear quarter panel was repaired in 2004.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Goodyear Regatta tires measuring 205/70. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake fluid was flushed in November 2023.

The cabin was reupholstered in 2004 and features seating surfaces trimmed in tan leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Interior amenities include a CD stereo, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning.

The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 72k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. An oil change was performed and the spark plugs and oil pressure sender replaced in November 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and the seller states that the rear gearing has been upgraded. There is a hole in the muffler.

The Indiana title lists “Exempt” under the brands section.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
