This 1971 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that is finished in red over black vinyl and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, a body-color hardtop, a black soft top, power steering, and an aftermarket sound system. The seller acquired the car in 2020, and service performed under previous ownership included a differential re-seal, a carburetor adjustment, a fuel system cleaning, and replacement of the brake master cylinder, brake booster, and rear brake calipers and pads. This XKE is now offered with spare parts, a hardtop hoist, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been refinished in red in 1985. Exterior details include chrome bumpers, polished trim, a body-color hardtop, and a black soft top. Noted cosmetic flaws include imperfections in the paint and pitting in the brightwork. Polished trim for the hardtop rear window, as well as a hoist and sling for the hardtop are included in the sale.
15″ wire wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Solar 4XS+ tires showing 2019 date codes. A matching spare is mounted in the boot. The car was factory equipped with power steering, and the braking system was refreshed under previous ownership in June 2019. Parts replaced included the master cylinder, booster, hoses, rear calipers, and rear pads.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reportedly reupholstered in black vinyl under previous ownership. Additional equipment includes three-point seatbelts, an aftermarket sound system, and air conditioning. The seller notes that the air conditioning system has been converted to R134a, the heater is non-operational, and the headliner in the hardtop is in need of replacement.
The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer. An analog clock and gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors, Petronix ignition, and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that the secondary butterflies in the carburetors have been disabled and that a removed carburetor linkage, a replacement ignition coil, and a set of belts are included in the sale. Recent service performed under previous ownership included cleaning the fuel system and adjusting the carburetors.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that the footwell floor pans have been replaced and that the differential was re-sealed in June 2019.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists original colors, powertrain numbers, and a June 5, 1970 date of manufacture.
