This car is now on Ebay. Item number 4630931154. The sellers description has been amended now, but it originally claimed that this was the first 2+2 LHD off the line despite the fact that it is a Series 2 car and the year of manufacture was given as 1969

Additional, apparently amended info from above auction:
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Jaguar-VIN-1-Pilot-Line-Car-First-Factory- ...
Opening bid $14k, no reserve, no bids yet, 4 days left in auction. The car does have the appropriate VIN to be the first LHD, S2, 2+2. It would not be the first car off the line as that would have been in '60 or '61. Secondly there would have been a RHD, S2, 2+2 with a VIN of #1 that could well have been the first car in catagory. I'm personally very uncomfortable with this sellers description but post it here for others to judge. Car is currently located in Georgia, USA

    Sellers description:
PILOT LINE FACTORY FIRST CAR VINNED AND FIRST CAR TO ROLL OF OF THE JAGUAR XKE ASSEMBLY LINE. VIN #1 Keywords: Prototype, Pilot Line, Serial #1, Vin #1, Test Car, Executive Car, Factory Show Car, Factory Test Vehicle, Lowest Vin Number. 44,000 original miles. Red with black interior. Original condition. Runs and drives very nice. All original components. No wrecks known. Needs body restoration and new interior. Never restored. There is body rust on both doors and a bubble on the hood bonnet and in the floor boards. Just drove it with no problems. Starts right up, carbs are in excellent original condition. ALL NUMBERS MATCH. THIS IS THE FACTORY PILOT LINE XKE CAR. THERE MAY BE MANY XKE CARS, BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE FIRST CAR ON THE FACTORY LINE. THIS IS IT. VIN #1, NOT #2, NOT #1000. THIS IS CAR #1. IT DESERVES A CONCOURSE RESTORATION WHICH I CANNOT GIVE IT AT THIS TIME. THERE IS NO BOOK VALUE WHICH CAN DESCRIBE BUYING A VIN #1 PILOT LINE JAGUAR.
