Ebay item 10/23/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-2-SEAT-FHC-1970-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-XKE-COUPE-ST ...
Current bid $6,600 reserve not met, 8 bids, 5 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Very solid, original, low mileage garage find that rarely comes along. I first saw this E-Type in the late 1970's when a friend purchased it as a companion car to his primrose yellow E-Type Roadster. At that time he asked me to look this coupe over and give him an estimate to refinish it. Back then it was common for a ten year old Jag to need paint, and this coupe had already been repaired along the right hand side and quickly painted without proper prep. Although it shined nicely (and still does 30 years later) it needed to be taken down to steel and prepared & repaired correctly. That was more than I wanted to get involved with at the time. My friend used the coupe lightly for a couple of years and then one weekend jacked it up, removed the exhaust system and let it lay (sleeping) in his back storage garage for the next 25 years! When he passed away a few years ago his wife asked me to help her sort out some of his automotive related items. There was the Coupe, still up on blocks inside the lower garage burried behind storage boxes and covered with decades of dust. Well, I put the wheels on. rolled it out and realized that this was a RUST FREE 30000 mile original car. Now, after all this time had passed it was just the type of Jag one hopes to find. I purchased the Coupe with plans to restore it but the reality is I have other antiques that have been waiting longer and it's time to thin out the heard. Make no mistake this is not a driver. It will need a complete going through. The brakes are free but do not work and although it ran fine when parked the motor is stuck. The electrics are in great shape. The leather seats are still soft and will clean up nicely. Even the headilner looks good! This is a easy restoration as far as E-Types go. They are very prone to rot... this has NONE ! Solid - original floors and under body!
