The following is the description as seen on BaT

This 1971 Jaguar XKE open two-seater is a left-hand-drive Series II model that was built on June 1, 1970 and originally distributed by the Nicaragua Machinery Company in Managua. The car was imported to the US during previous ownership and was refurbished by Chicago Restorations of Northlake, Illinois in the early-2000s. The numbers-matching 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six remains fitted and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The selling dealer recently acquired the car, and maintenance in 2020 included a top-end engine rebuild as well as installing a new battery, refurbished Becker radio, new ignition and intake components, and fresh Coker tires. This Series II XKE is now offered as part of DriverSource’s Spring Motoring Collection with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, soft top boot, recent service records, and a clean Texas title.

Originally finished in Signal Red, the car was repainted black during the early-2000s refurbishment. Series II cars feature uncovered headlamps, taillights mounted beneath the rear bumper, and a larger front grille opening. This example is equipped with a power antenna and a single sideview mirror. Imperfections in the paint are shown up close in the gallery, along with photos of the lenses, trim, and glass etchings.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels were recently fitted with new Coker Classic redline tires and Michelin tubes. A matching spare wheel with an older Pirelli tire is stored below the trunk floor. The black soft top can be covered with the color-matching top boot when folded down. The car was originally optioned with power steering and air conditioning according to the seller, but the components for both systems were removed during previous ownership. Block stamping 7R 13062–9 is pictured above in the gallery and matches the engine number shown on the chassis tag and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

The interior was reupholstered in red leather with matching carpets and door panels in the early-2000s. A refurbished Becker Europa II AM/FM radio was recently installed, and the cabin is also equipped with red “leaper” seatbelts and AMCO rubber floor mats.

A 15″ wood-rim steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation, including a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer. A Smiths analog clock and a quartet of Smiths auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center of the dash fascia, above a row of rocker-type switches that control the lights and wipers. 90k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features dual Stromberg carburetors and was rated for 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. A new battery and ignition components were installed in 2020, and the fluids and filters were also replaced. Results from recent compression testing are viewable in the gallery, showing between 155 and 162 psi across all six cylinders.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. A steam cleaning and detailing of the underside were performed in 2020.
