AS THE STORY GOES THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED BY AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN WHEN NEW, AND DRIVEN ALMOST 40,000 MILES IN THE FIRST FEW YEARS. HE SUBSEQUENTLY HAD A STROKE AND AT THAT TIME, PASSED THE CAR ON TO A FRIEND, WHO STORED THE CAR AND DID NOT DRIVE IT. WHEN HE DIED HIS DAUGHTER INHERITED THE CAR FROM HIS ESTATE, AND SHE ALSO STORED IT WITHOUT USE. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS THE CURRENT OWNER AND HER NEIGHBOUR, BOUGHT THE CAR, AND IN THE LAST 15 OR SO YEARS HE HAS DRIVEN THE CAR LESS THAT 1000-MILES. HE FEELS IT IS TIME TO PASS IT ON AS HE NEVER USES IT, AND SOMEONE ELSE SHOULD GET TO ENJOY THIS WONDERFUL CLASSIC.

THE CAR APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REPAINTED MANY YEARS AGO IN THE ORIGINAL COLOUR. FROM WHAT WE CAN SEE, THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY RUST ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND THE BODY IS STRAIGHT AND SOLID. THE BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR IS FACTORY, AND IN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. THE CARPETS APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN REDONE IN A GREY TYPE OF MATERIAL.AND THE HEADLINER, ETC. IS VERY GOOD AND CERTAINLY DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY ATTENTION. THE TRIM ON THE INTERIOR OF THE REAR HATCH HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR SOME REASON A WHILE AGO, AND UNFORTUNATELY CANNOT BE LOCATED, AND WE ASSUME IT HAS BEEN LOST.

FROM A MECHANICAL POINT OF VIEW THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES WELL, THE 3.8 ENGINE WOULD BENEFIT FROM A TUNE UP AFTER SITTING FOR SO LONG. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WELL AND THE OWNER HAD THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM RENEWED LAST YEAR AND IT IS PERFECT. THERE IS A MATCHING SET OF VERY GOOD MICHELIN TIRES ON THE CHROME WIRE WHEELS.

THE TACOMETER WAS WORKING, AND IT STOPED DURING OUR TEST DRIVE. IT IS LIKELY A VERY MINOR FIX. OTHER THAN THAT ALL INSTRUMENTS WORK, AS THEY SHOULD. ALL GLASS IS SCRATCH AND CHIP FREE, AND THE UNDERCARRIDGE IS CLEAN BUT NOT DETAILED AS IS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CLEAN BUT NOT DETAILED.

Series 1 3.8 liter coupe with low miles. It is a strong car and rust free. I have records for rebuilt heads, rebuilt carbs, new cams, new main and rod bearings. Also have receipts for new clutch, new starter, new weather stripping and new fuel pump. Car has Petronix Electronic ignition. The car will need attention to brakes and ball joints.( Front suspension rebuild parts are included with purchase.) Overall good driver, mostly sorted Inspections are welcome.
