Listed for sale at www.europeanclassiccars.co.uk. "Stunning 1963 Jaguar E-Type S1 3.8 FHC lhd. The original, iconic and most attractive E-Type, a S1 3.8 FHC. If there's an angle where this car doesn't look gorgeous, I haven't found it. It's no wonder it's at the top of so many people's wish list of dream cars to own. In this lovely shade of British Racing Green, with contrasting black leather interior and wire wheels this is a superb example. Recently and sympathetically restored from what was an excellent car to start with. She had a remarkably sound original and rust free bodyshell, has received an extensive mechanical rebuild where required and a full body strip down and repaint. It's always a great experience taking an E-Type out and this one does not disappoint, with strong performance and a very nice tight rattle free ride. You'll have to have been asleep not to have spotted that this is the 50th anniversary of the E-Type with numerous magazine articles and television features and the admiring glances and complimentary comments you get when you park this example up, proving what an iconic car the E-Type really is. The car was originally sold on the 5th of December 1963 in New York, USA and was in the States up to a couple of years ago when the current owner, a UK citizen then living in America, acquired it and imported it to the UK. The car has been extensively restored, started in America, and finished in the UK. Below is a list (by no means fully comprehensive) of the major items restored or replaced. Body shell was stripped and repainted, it is believed minimal corrosion was found that required cutting out, so an original incredibly sound body to start with. Engine was rebuilt in America. Gear box was rebuilt in UK. Complete brake system overhaul, including Dunlop brake pistons, master cylinder, brake pipes, discs, etc. Complete clutch system overhaul. Suspension bushes renewed as required. Complete new wiring loom. Carbs services with new service kits. UJ's. New radiator and hoses. Kenlowe fan fitted as a precaution as current owner lives in London. Fuel pump renewed. Full stainless steel exhaust system. Steering bushes and UJ's. New track rod ends. New front leather seats and central dash trim. New front carpets (the rest of the interior trim is original). New chrome wire wheels and tires." Asking price 54,000 British pounds.
Further information from E-bay UK listing 190579584251: "As you'd expect with all this work having been carried out, the end result on the road is a car that drives very nicely, feeling tight and rattle free. The oil pressure and water temp gauges read well. The gear box works well as do the brakes and clutch. As yet, the car is not fully run in, so in about 800 miles or so, it will require a service and check-through of important items. Externally the body work is very straight, the doors shut very nicely and with good flush panel fit. The chrome work is excellent all around, a little pitting on the Maisac rear light assemblies, not surprising as there are the original items. The interior has been kept as original as possible and only the items that were beyond redemption were replaced, these mainly being the front seat covers and padding, center console trim and front carpets. All the rest is original and helps keep a feeling of originality and patination to the car. As nice as complete retrims can look, I always prefer to see as much originality possible left inside a car."

    Vehicle details
    Jaguar E-Type 3.8 FHC
    Chassis number 889514
    Engine number RA 3933-9

The car was originally sold, according to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate on the 5th of Dec 63 in New York,USA and was in the States up to a few years ago.Just prior to this, the current owner,a UK citizen then living in America aquired it from the family of the previous owner,a Doctor who had sadly passed away a number years previous. The deal was agreed,I believe under the promise that the car would be restored and the new owner would give the family of the previous owner the opportunity to see and drive the car once again, when restoration was completed. Unfortunately the latter part of this deal was not concluded as the current owners circumstances changed and he found himself back, living and working in the UK and subsequently had the car follow him back.

However, the first part of the deal was concluded and the car is relatively fresh from an extensive restoration, started in America and finished in the UK.Below is a list (by no means fully comprehensive) of the major items restored or replaced.

    WORK CARRIED OUT
Bodyshell was stripped and repainted about 3 years ago,it is believed minimal corrosion was found that required cutting out,so an original, incredibly sound body to start with! (Photo record kept)

Complete brake system overhaul, including Dunlop brake pistons, master cylinder, brake pipes, discs, pads etc.
    Complete clutch system overhaul.

Carb's serviced with new service kits

    Full stainless steel exhaust system
    Steering bushes and UJ's
    New track rod ends
New front, leather seats and central dash trim
New front carpets(The rest of interior trim kept as original as possible)
    New,chrome wire wheels and tyres (Vredestein Sport Classics 185 HR15 91H x5)

    ON THE ROAD
As you'd expect with all this work having been carried out,the end result on the road,is a car that drives very nicely.Feeling tight and rattle free, the oil pressure and water temp guages read well, the gearbox works well as do the brakes and clutch. As yet,the car is not fully run in,so in about 800 miles or so,it will require a service and check through of important items.

We have bills and receipts covering all the above work and more, both in the UK plus more from the US.

Prices of these early 3.8 FHC's have risen dramatically over the last year and at an asking price of £54000.00 this car is very competitively priced.
