This 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Coupe is a matching-numbers example that has undergone a comprehensive bare-metal rotisserie restoration to a true show-level standard. Presented in a striking and highly desirable color combination, the car reflects the precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail expected of a properly executed concours restoration.
As with all of our Series 1 E-Type show-level restorations, meticulous care was taken throughout the process. This highly original Southern California example proved to be an excellent core for restoration. The vehicle was completely disassembled and documented, with the body stripped to bare metal, expertly metal-finished, properly fitted, and leaded where necessary. All body panels and chrome components were trial-fitted prior to final finishing. The body was then primed, sealed, finished in base coat and clear coat, and color-sanded and buffed to a beautiful, show-quality finish. Panel alignment, surface preparation, and overall presentation were addressed to the highest standard, resulting in exceptional fit and finish throughout.
All major mechanical systems were carefully inspected and restored or replaced as required. The engine, transmission, clutch, cooling, braking, and hydraulic systems were fully serviced and restored. The XKE also received new rubber components, grommets, and seals throughout. The interior was completely retrimmed by our master trimmer using proper materials and finishes, and components were restored in correct colors and textures. Wherever possible, high-quality NOS parts were utilized.
Discreet reliability upgrades include electronic ignition and a battery cutoff switch. The car rides on 185x15 Vredestein tires mounted on five matching wheels, maintaining proper period appearance while enhancing drivability. Additional features include an alloy dash, correct rubber floor mats, and a clean, purposeful interior presentation without a radio, reinforcing the car’s focused, driver-oriented character.
The odometer currently reads in kilometers; we can convert the gauge to miles at no charge if desired.
An MP4 restoration video documenting the process accompanies the car, highlighting the extensive body preparation, paintwork, and overall craftsmanship. The result is an exquisitely restored, matching-numbers Series I Coupe that is both concours-ready and road-capable and properly sorted and ready for immediate enjoyment.
