MotorCarTrader.com is very excited to offer this beautiful early and rare early Jaguar E-type Coupe. This great car was built on March 13th of 1962 and the date of dispatch was March 27 of 1962. The original distributor was Jaguar Cars in New York. This is a matching numbers car. We purchased this car from a gentleman who had owned this E-type since 1991. As we understand, he purchased this car from a broker who was representing it for the second owner. The car underwent a full restoration in 1992 and has been driven about 500 careful miles a year since. We purchased this car as a nice driver and wanted to upgrade and refresh the overall condition to make it a very nice and reliable higher end driver type car. It is now a great driver that can be driven anywhere.
Some of the recent work we completed on our refresh/restore of this great car are as follows:
The engine was previously rebuilt, but needed a little attention here and there. The carburetors were completely rebuilt, polished, tuned and synched. The fuel was completely drained and a new fuel filter was installed.
The valves were adjusted and the coolant was flushed. The oil and filter were changed with Lucas oil stabilizer.
Transmission fluid serviced, drained and filled.
Compression tested and readings of: 1-145psi,2-150,3-155,4-145,5-150,6-145.
New valve cover gaskets, breather head gaskets and front breather hose were installed.
A new drive belt was installed. All electrical and wiring done through to ensure everything is working properly with new wiring loom to protect wiring.
New heater hoses installed.
An aluminum radiator installed with a better cooling fan. (This car runs very cool.)
An new heat shield for the brake reservoir and new brake reservoir caps were installed.
Replaced all cylinder head nuts and valve cover nuts. New bonnet seal.
New engine mounts.
Powder coated vacuum reservoir oil filter housing, heater (blower) box, air box and exhaust manifolds.
Cylinder head painted, as well as miscellaneous brackets. All aluminum on the engine compartment removed from engine and polished.
The entire rear end was removed from the car. All parts were powder coated. A new pinion seal was replaced. The stub axles, all U-Joints, rear hub bearings were all repaired. All new brake pads and new brake calipers were installed (parking brake as well). New radius arm bushings installed. New rear cage mounts were installed. Rear differential inspected and serviced. All new rear shocks with new shock bushings. Also new front shocks with new shock bushings.
Wilwood brakes and drilled rotors were previously installed, but we installed new front brake pads.
The underside was degreased (with the exhaust and rear end out of the car). All loose undercoating underneath the car was cleaned off and new 3M Body Schutz undercoating was painted underneath the car to properly seal the rust free underside and floors.
New front access panels installed and painted. (The passenger side is missing from the pictures, but came in later and will be installed).
A brand new and full stainless steel exhaust system was installed with new exhaust hangers, mounts and clamps.
The chrome bumpers, over riders, rear light housing (new red lenses added) and motif bar (new center growler badge) were all re-chromed.
New windshield rubber installed with new chrome posts on right and left side.
New interior covers for rear door door hinges and levers. All new alloy dash kit (correct dot type) installed. All gauge glass faces take off and cleaned. A new shifter boot was installed.
Newer tires with new 6 inch chrome wire wheels were previously installed (for better handling) with new eared knock offs. The original wire wheels do go with the car.
Replaced front upper and lower ball joints. Also front and rear sway bar links. A four wheel alignment was completed.
This Jaguar E-type Coupe is a really nice and higher level driver. It is not a trailer queen, but one of the nicer Series I etype coupes on the market today. The paint was done in 1992, so it has some imperfections from age and is not perfect, but does present well. It is a joy to drive and feels very tight at any speed. The clutch feels great and the car shifts smoothly (well as smooth as these early moss gearboxes shifted). As a result of the cooling modifications, it does not get hot or overheat. The steering is very precise. It has excellent power and runs perfect. This is the way a Jaguar E-type coupe should run, drive and handle.
