Car is listed on EBay:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Description: Jaguar : XKE E TYPE
COLLECTIBLE RARE 1962 JAGUAR XKE CPE.

Miles: 82000 Doors: 2 doors or more
Transmission: Manual Interior: Black
Engine: 6 - Cyl. Year: 1962
VIN Number: 885505 Exterior: Burgundy/Maroon

Vehicle Description: This very rare of Jaguars is number 505 off the production line. 4 speed and chrome wire wheels. It is a 3.8 DOHC in line, 3781 cc. with 3 SU HD8 Carbs. Car # 885505 Eng # R 3629-9 Body # V 1688 GHear Box EB 2756JS

Vehicle Condition: Starts and drives well, stops well, shifts well. Average driver, good short distance driver, I would not embark on a long drive without going through the car's mechanicals. It was an occational summer driver for the last owner who did his own repairs and maintenence. Needs restoration to be a real great car but it has all the requirements of an easy project. Some rust repairs and areas that have rust are shown in the photos. Paint is weak in several areas, but not hatefull, one big patch of primer on fender. Notice no rust in the wells of the bonnet Good, clean refervished interior. vinyl seats, nice carpets, good gauges and aluminum dash cover.

Auction just started so there are only three bids to a figure of US $5,100.00 with a Buy-It-Now price of US $13,400.00

I went to see this car on a dealer lot on 9/18/04, after seeing it advertised in the Washington Post. I took pictures but most were duplicates of those already uploaded here - I added a couple of additional ones.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
