Ebay item 5/18/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-Series-Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-Rare-Original-Color-/ ...
Opening bid $39,000, no reserve, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1964 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Rare Early Color

- 1964 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, VIN# 880550
- 51,109 miles
- 3.8L Motor, 4 Speed Manual Gearbox

Low mileage, solid Series 1 E-Type. The engine starts and runs and has excellent oil pressure. This car was originally black which was a very rare color from the factory. It was re-painted maroon about thirty years ago.

Although this car is titled as a 1964 E, based on the markings and appearance, there is a good chance that it was manufactured in 1962 and by the time this car got to the states and was processed, it was titled as a 1964 E-Type. This classic has had only two previous owners and the first owner had the car for a short time only. The second owner possessed this E-Type for well over thirty years! It has always been stored securely and not exposed to the elements.

This is your opportunity to get a solid classic E-Type that doesn't need much to make it a great driver and not much more to make it a show queen. This car is solid and is all there. Bid now and good luck!

Car returns to ebay 5/13/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-Jaguar-Series-3-8-E-type-Roadster-Low-Miles-Nice-Ru ...
Current bid $21,100 reserve not met, 12 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Cornelius, North Carolina.

Sellers description:
This 1964 Jaguar E-type Series I 3.8 Roadster was originally manufactured on November 12, 1963. This Jaguar was originally dispatched on November 27, of 1963 and the original owner was S. Benatooch of New York USA. The car presented was originally painted black with beige interior. This is a very rare color combination as only 164 cars Jaguar Series I 3.8 e-types (Fixed Head Coupes and Roadsters) were produced in this color combination according to Mr. Clausager with Jaguar Archives and author of "Factory Original Jaguar E-type." The color combination black with beige interior is one of the more desirable color combinations and in our opinion the best looking color on a Jaguar E-type. This car was sitting for a while, but it does run and has 50 pounds of oil pressure at idle. As we can tell the brake system needs to be gone through with new brake calipers to get it driving. Also, a new clutch slave may have to be installed. In addition, cosmetically it will need some body work at some point and paint of course (eventually) as there are a few rust holes in the rockers, but other than that, the body is solid with little evidence of any body filler. The floors and underside of this car appear to be very solid as well. Again, this car does not drive and the extent of the restoration required is certainly up to the next owner.
All matching numbers car as per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate form Jaguar Archives (Numbers on block, head, body tag, transmission and front frame rail).
Chassis Number: 880550
Engine Number: RA4270-9
Body Number: R7343
Gear Box Number: EB 12397 JS

The interior looks all Original with Original radio. The interior door handles and window crank handles are not original.
Strong engine which does run and has excellent compression of 150psi to 165psi on all cylinders. The car does run (does not drive) and has 50 pounds of oil pressure.
A new gas tank has been installed.
Original wiring and fuse panel looks new.
Original floors are solid and in excellent condition.
All switches and all lights are operational.
Original tool kit included (partial, not full tool kit).
Only 51,109 miles which we believe is original.

Overall this is a good restorable or "smaller" project car, but how far the next owner intends to take this is completely up to them. It does not drive right now as it will need some addition work to do so. As we saw the brake system will need to be gone through and a new clutch slave may have to be installed. It may not be limited to just this, but what we saw as initially needing to be done. This is a great car to start with to bring it back to its former glory or to get driving to enjoy for a while, and/or eventually restore.

This automobile is available for inspection in Cornelius, NC and by appointment only.

Sellers description:
Extensive restoration
Great colour combination
Removable hard top

Offered here is a 1963 3.8 Litre Series 1 Roadster. Finished in beautiful Opalescent Gunmetal with contrasting red hide interior, this is one of the great E-Type colour combinations. With the build date recorded on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate as 12th November 1963, this roadster was delivered to S Benatooch in New York. Recently bought back to the UK where it has undergone a restoration to a very high standard, extraordinary care has been taken to detail the engine bay in particular which is presented to a near concours standard. Sitting on new chrome wire wheels and fitted with a desirable factory hard top, it looks fabulous. We have matched the engine number to the heritage certificate and it is the original engine to the car.

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars on the planet, the E type was described by Enzo Ferrari as 'the most beautiful car in the world'. High praise indeed from the maker of many of the most exotic motor cars ever produced. Accompanying the car is a file detailing the history and restoration as well as the Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

Early viewing is recommended in our Kew showroom.

Price £115,000
