Lot 204 - COYS Nuerburgring August 8, 2009

QUOTE:

BARN FIND - unseen and unused since 1965 -

"COYS EUROPE IS PARTICULARY PROUD TO PRESENT ANOTHER "Cinderella story” after the successful SALE OF THE XK 120 Roadster BARN FIND, having belonged to BATTLE OF BRITAN ACE F/O BH BOWRING, in their BLENHEIM PALACE SALE on 18.7.2009.

This is another rare find indeed! This E-Type was sold as a new car in 1963 to an American air force pilot named Lt. Walter Kosko during his service in Germany by no other than legendary racing driver`s Peter Lindner Jaguar dealership at Wiesbaden and was delivered to him on 27.11.1963.

Lt. Kosko used his new pride and joy during his last 2 years of service and as so many US officers that were buying European Sports cars during their stay in Europe, paying with their strong dollars, he took the car back to the US in 1965, after having had his 10.000 miles service at Peter Lindner’s Jaguar Garage.

Back in the US, the car was not driven anymore by the Lt. but stored in his garage for the next 44 years ! The circumstances are unfortunately not known to us, nor to the now vendor who found and bought the car only recently in America, still with the mileage of 9800 which is the same as 44 years ago. What is exceptional on this ultra rare find, is not only the nominal mileage, having covered by Lt. Kosko who was the only owner who drove the car, but the fact that all paperwork a buyer of a new Jaguar E- Type got from the dealership, is still there down to the key fob in leather with Peter Lindner’s address on it.

There are all books, service booklet, purchase contract, warranty card etc. etc. in fact all the paperwork that came with the car when delivered new in back in November 1963 to Airforce pilot Lt. Kosko.

Being described as to be complete and in rather good condition in relation to its long storage, this is an ideal project for an easy and straightforward restoration too.

A definitely unrepeatable chance to buy a genuine 1 owner from new Jaguar with under 10,000 miles on the clock and arguably the best model of this iconic British sports car - the E- Type Ser. 1 Roadster with the legendary 3.8 litre original engine, untouched and unrestored for nearly half a century. The car comes with all the aforementioned paperwork and customs paid documents to the EU."

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
