Artcurial Motorcars Paris 10/06/2013, estimate 45 / 65 000 euros.
With its long striking hood, its impressive engine and fine performance, the Jaguar E-Type remains one of the most important cars of the twentieth century. Unveiled in 1962 with the famous six-cylinder Jaguar twin camshaft engine, the car boasted an impressively high performance for its time, a car born of the success of the legendary C-Type and the D-Type. The Series 1 is perhaps the purest and most desirable of the three series, before the cosmetic changes imposed by U.S. safety regulations ruined the beautiful lines.
This E-Type convertible was purchased in November 1983 in Agen by its current owner and the car's odometer shows just 77,603 km. This is also the owner who sponsored the car's thorough restoration, sparing neither time nor effort, between 1983 and 1987. Many bills confirm the extensive work that has been done. The soft top was replaced in this particular occasion and mechanicals have been restored, keeping the original cylinder head. Painted red, the car comes with black leatherette upholstery. Having remained stored in a dry place and the fact that the car has not been in use for a decade, this interesting E-Type sold without technical inspection requires some cosmetic attention and a careful revision at the time of restarting the car. Once that is done, this car will be great for cruises and tours, especially when summer comes and the top can be lowered, to enjoy wind-in-the-hair motoring in close contact with the environment, the sun and the smells of the countryside.
