In fairness to all bidders, I will not divulge the reserve, so please do not ask. There is no warranty of any kind on this auction and this car is being sold "As is, Where is" in Nashville, Tennessee.

Car returns to ebay 7/5/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $30,000.00 (Reserve not met), 28 bids, 8 days left in auction. Auction location West Palm Beach, Florida.

Sellers description:
Some believe the early 3.8 liter e-types to be best sports car of all time… all time! You seldom get a squabble with top 3! It is fair to say the 3.8 is considered the most 'pure' of its breed. But if you’re going to bid and win this car, you already know that and you already know “Linda Ann” is the prettiest girl at the dance!

“Linda Ann” was delivered in 1963 to an American on vacation in Paris and shipped to California shortly thereafter. Upon arrival in the US, the seats are believed to have been upgraded from the original “clamshells” to 1964 seats (although this has been the cause for protracted discussion). As of today, “Linda Ann” has compiled almost 73K miles. She is a true numbers matching car with the worn nameplate with its distinctive etching and impressions matching the body (front and back), engine (block and head), and transmission. The numbers are:

Engine: R9120-9
Gear Box: EB8200JS
Car: 878695
Body: R5642

I have to say this is not a Corvette with 15 different kinds of engines and options. I don’t know why this is so important. I didn’t buy the car because of the match.

When you say a 40 year old motorcar is a driver, it’s usually a putdown… “Linda Ann” is a driver…this is not meant to be a putdown. I have several Jaguars and I take good care of my cars, but I drive my cars and I drive this car more often than most. Within the last month, “Linda Ann” completed a 1,000 mile trip without as much as a mishap (although I carried a roadside emergency kit).

The drive-train is solid… She does not consume oil, has strong oil pressure and good compression, shifts crisply, and clutch is strong. Even with her original 2 blade fan, she runs cold in the Florida heat! Hard to believe! I would have no trouble getting in her and driving to New York.

“Linda Ann” is rust free...floor boards, along the underside, wheel wells, quarter pabels, nose, trunk-well, etc. The message is that rust is not a problem with this car: now or before. She was repainted her original Carmen Red at some point as the paint is good in depth, gloss, and color. This makes the overall appearance quite good. In addition, she is equipped with a new top that keeps the rain off the seats. She also has a new exhaust and good Michelin radials. The message is she's a good car, attracts attention at shows, and is very reliable. Her most detracting deficiency is the non-original tonneau snaps.

Live your dream with the prettiest girl at the dance! All the fluids have been changed and she is ready to roll.

Previous auction ended at $32,000 (Reserve met) after 18 bids.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
