This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was acquired by the seller in June 2004 and was the subject of a refurbishment completed in December 2016. Work performed included a repaint in dark red, an overhaul of the tan leather interior, and installation of a five-speed manual transmission, which is mated to a 4.2-liter inline-six that was installed under previous ownership. Additional equipment includes a tan soft top, Wilwood front disc brakes, Pertronix ignition components, glass headlight covers, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a RetroSound stereo. This XKE is now offered with refurbishment records, a spare parts manual, a car cover, a tool kit, a jack and hammer, and a clean California title in the seller’s name that lists the car as a 1964 model.

The exterior was refinished in its current shade of dark red during the refurbishment completed in December 2016. Features include a tan soft top, glass headlight covers, hood louvers, split front and rear bumpers, and twin exhaust outlets.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The car rides on four-wheel independent suspension, and modifications include Spax adjustable shock absorbers, an adjustable torsion bar reaction plate, heavy-duty sway bars, and polyurethane bushings. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood vented front discs and rear discs with inboard-mounted rotors with stainless steel flex brake lines.

The cabin was overhauled during the aforementioned refurbishment and features tan leather seat upholstery along with matching carpets and door panels with armrests. Equipment includes a center console with an armrest, a height-adjustable rearview mirror, sun visors, toggle switches, chrome fittings, three-point seat belts, and a RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth connectivity.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel is equipped with an E-Type-branded horn button and frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. A quartet of auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack, and the five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, approximately 400 of which are said to have been added since completion of the refurbishment. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The refurbished 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was installed under previous ownership. Equipment includes a replacement water pump, a spin-on oil filter conversion, a high-torque starter, Pertronix ignition components, an alloy radiator and overflow tank, and stainless exhaust headers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that was installed during the refurbishment. The rear differential has reportedly been rebuilt, and a stainless steel exhaust system has been installed.

The reproduction chassis data plate lists chassis number 878377, which indicates a 3.8-liter left-hand-drive roadster built in late 1962. The engine number 7E9034-9 stamped on the plate corresponds to the engine block and cylinder head stamps on the replacement 4.2-liter inline-six.

The California title lists the car as a 1964 model and notes the VIN as 878377R4924, a combination of the car number and the body number stamped on the chassis data plate. The chassis number 878377 is stamped on the front frame rail.
