Car to be at Coy's Padova auction Saturday 28th October 2006

One of these auction listings is incorrect. No way to tell which without input from owners. Without that proof I would tend to go with this auction data, as its more recent info. Of course we have no proof its not the same car however that's not likely in my opinion.

Auction description:
Lot 149
1963 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Registration no: Italian registered
Chassis no: 878262
Estimate: €35,000-45,000

The car you see here today was registered to its first owner in Como in 1963 and currently carries the Alessandria number plate of the second owner who has owned the car since 1981. It was comprehensively restored by him between 1986 and 1991, bills accompanying the car pertain to this work. The car is in excellent condition and this is in no doubt helped by the fact that the car was first sold in Italy and has benefited from the temperate climate. It has its original logbook and Como registration plates as well as an ASI registration number, the Italian historical Motoring organisation.

Car has a buy it now price of $132,500 for 6 days.

Auction description:
VIN: 878262
BODY: R5954
ENGINE: RA16669
MILES: 36,961

Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this gorgeous 1963 Jaguar Series 1 3.8L E-Type Roadster (also known as an "OTS" or "Open Two Seater"). This particular 3.8 litre five speed is in excellent shape, 100% sorted, and certainly worthy of prestigious acclaim.

This car has just under 37,000 original miles and has benefited from an exceptionally thorough and detailed restoration. The Silver exterior and Red interior color combination matches the original selection. The paint, chrome, glass and interior are all in excellent condition. This car is a total gem.

This Jaguar features the standard E Type independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front end, and four wheel disc brakes, in-board at the rear, all power-assisted. The recently restored to the nut and bolt 3.8 litre engine with triple SU Carburetors is clean and runs and sounds outstanding. To improve driveability, it has also been fitted with a 5 speed manual transmission, high capacity radiator and electric cooling fan. The 1963 year was the third for the appealing covered headlights, and the last for the 3.8 litre engine.

Overall this car is in stellar condition with very comfortable seats, and quick pick up due to its light weight of 2,770 lbs (over a thousand pounds less than a modern XK8), plus great maneuvering. The 1963 Jaguar 3.8 litre E Type defines not only a fast car with excellent performance and handling, but, an all-time favorite of so many, including the New York City Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) which added a blue roadster to its permanent design collection, one of just six automobiles to be awarded this exclusive distinction.

I'm marketing the car for Brighton Motorsports. The current owner's title was issued 09132004, and at that time showed 35384 Box A miles. Previous title was from Illinois, and was issued 03072001.
The Coy's Padova auction seems to be wrong data. I do know that the car was restored by Classic Showcase, and that you can still see a picture of it on their home page.

Jeff
