I agree 100%, Anonimus. There are enough parts there to justfy building a car around a new shell. Once a car is broken, the title will be lost, and the world will have lost another E-Type. I hope someone rescues this one.

Well we're all in luck I think... Car returns to ebay 9/5/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-JAQUAR-XKE-1963-JAGUAR-XKE-CLASSIC-GREAT-RESTORAT ...
Current bid $6,100, 22 bids, 1 day left in auction.

Sellers description:
This car has a $4,000 reserve. It does not have a Carborator. It Needs 100% restoration. It is currently covered in Primer as indicated in the photos. It has a clean title. The Rear Axle on this car alone sells for 2,000. The rims are valued at 2,000. The front nose is 2,000. You could buy this car and sell it for parts and make a nice profit. That is not by business. I am looking for a fast sale!
ACCORDING TO THE TITLE THE IDENTIFICATION # is R3585
VEHICLE IS COVERED IN PRIMER. IT HAS NO RUST THAT IS BROWN AND FLAKEY. IT CLEARLY HAS RUSTED IN MANY PLACES BUT THE PRIMER SEEMS TO HAVE STOPPED ANY DETERIORATION. IT HAS BEEN GARAGED FOR OVER A YEAR. BEFORE THAT, I DO NOT KNOW ITS LIFE STORY. IT APPEARS TO BE MATCHING BODY AND ENGINE. HOWEVER, I CAN NOT CONFIRM THIS. I AM NOT A CAR EXPERT. I LOOKED AROUND THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND ANY NUMBERS. THE TITLE STATES THAT IT S IDENTIFICATION # R3585. SERIOUSLY, I CANT IMAGINE THAT ANYONE HAS DONE ANY WORK TO THIS CAR AT ALL. IT APPEARS TO BE ENTIRELY ORIGINAL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GOOD STUFF ON THIS CAR INCLUDES...THE TOP IS FLAWLESS. THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE GAUGES AND THE AREA AROUND THEM INCLUDING THE WOOD PANELING ALL LOOK FANTASTIC. THE SEATS LOOK VERY NICE. EVERYTHING ELSE NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. WITH TLC THIS WILL BE A BEAUTY. BUT I AM NOT A MECHANIC. I HAVE THIS CAR BECAUSE MY HOME HAS AN EMPTY GARAGE. MY FRIEND PARKED IT HER AND HAS KEPT IT HERE. HE FINALLY TOLD ME TO GO AHEAD AND SELL IT. THE TITLE IS COMPLETELY CLEAN.

MATCHING NUMBERS - OK, for those of you watching this item frustrated with my ignorance, I just had a Jag expert come take a look. We were able to identify the ENGINE and FRAME/BODY NUMBERS. THEY ARE: FRAME # READS 877059, Engine # reads R 5038-9 APPARENTLY, THEY ARE ALWAYS DIFFERENT. JAGUAR CORP or clubs appraently keep records as to what should be what, however, the expert was also quite confident that they are all the original. ................................................................ He also said that I should point out that the "ROCKER PANEL" inside the car was rather rusted. There is also no convertible top on the vehicle.
I am being told by some car enthusiasts that from looking at the pictures this is infact an E-type and not an XKE as my title states. However, I can not concur one way or the other. So bud carefully. You are bidding on either an E-Type or an XKE which will require complete restoration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
