With over £41,000 spent on this car for recent work carried out, it is described as being totally immaculate. The car underwent a full restoration in 2009 and underwent a body off restoration in Germany with a new green leather interior, re-built engine and a desirable 5 speed Getrag gearbox feeding power to the wheels. Hauling the car to a halt are Coopercraft uprated brakes,and new wire wheels are fitted along with new tyres.

All suspension parts are plated and re-bushed and all bright work has been re-chromed. The vendor describes the car as being totally immaculate with a new mohair hood and cover. This 1962 example is finished in British Racing Green with a green hide interior and is supplied with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, US certificate of title and customs documentation as well as a US bill of sale. In excellent condition, this E-Type has subtle upgrades that make it much more usable proposition while still retaining the E-Types striking lines.

This series one roadster was originally supplied with a 3.8 litre engine and Moss gearbox but was changed to 4.2 litre specification in the 1960s by one of its early owners. This was a common upgrade for 3.8 owners as it was far cheaper than buying a new car that looked almost identical. Arguably, this fully restored E-Type offers the ultimate performance package for its next owner.

Chassis number 876874 was delivered to its first owner in California in 1962. Not much is known of the car's early history until it was purchased by a Jaguar enthusiast known for his involvement in the assembly of the very last Series III E-Type. The car has just finished a complete body and mechanical restoration by Ray Parrott, whose brief was to make this roadster more suited to long distance touring. Parrott rose to recognition in E-Type circles by completing the very last V12 E-Type Series III Roadster, as featured in Octane, from original factory parts in 2008.

The restoration, which involved a total engine rebuild, replaced or refurbished almost every component on the car. The finished result is described by the vendor as a near perfect combination of practicality and performance. 876874 boasts stainless steel 6 inch wire wheels, long branch stainless steel exhaust system, Cooper Craft brakes, uprated fuel pump, .288 differential conversion, Kenlowe fan, 5 speed Getrag gearbox, Monroe Shock absorbers and mohair hood.

The panel fit and overall finish is a credit to the restorer and clearly demonstrates a thorough understanding of how an E-type should be presented. Supplied with a full MoT test certificate, Jaguar Heritage certificate, invoices and V5 registration document, 876874 is a rare example of an E-Type that drives as good as it looks.
