Don't miss out on this tremendous opportunity to own your very own dream car! Our classic Jaguar XKE Roadster Series I is a running and driving beauty with sleek lines and ample performance to spare.

Driver Level
This Series I 3.8 XKE Roadster is a good driver level vehicle. This vehicle has been extremely well maintained and has been garage kept in a climate-controlled environment. This vehicle was purchased out of a private European collection of highly collectable sports cars. The vehicle has had a recent full service performed and it is in very good condition. Included in the service were new bushings in the suspension, brakes rebuilt, major tune up, carburetors rebuilt, and cooling system rebuilt. All fluids replaced and major detail performed including the undercarriage. The car has an upgraded 4.2 transmission, brake system, and seats for more comfort. This E-type has the classy maroon exterior and the desirable biscuit interior.

Driver Level Restoration
A driver level car is generally a strong #2 car that can be driven on a regular basis. This is the most affordable of our three levels of restoration and is usually for the person who wants a reliable, beautiful classic car to drive. This car can be shown in driver level competitions.

Car was sold at RM Sports & Classic Car Auction, Monterey, California, Saturday, August 14, 2004

Auction description/result:
Lot # 274 1962 Jaguar XKE SI
flat floor Roadster; S/N 876687; Engine
# ??357-9; Maroon/Biscuit leather,
Black cloth top; Estimate $80,000 -
$100,000; Older restoration, 3- condition;
Hammered Sold at $73,000 plus
commission of 10.00%; Final Price
$80,300 -- Chrome wire wheels, no radio,
later seats. A sound and presentable
XKE but showing the age of its restoration
with dented dashboard aluminum
trim, pitted exterior trim chrome and
interior showing age and use. Good paint
and impressively straight bodywork.
Clean underhood. Described in the catalog
as a 4.2 liter, by year and chassis
number this actually must be a 3.8 and
an early flat floor model as well. Considering
the mis-statement in the catalog the
Monterey bidders caught the mistake and
bid this Flat Floor E-type to a healthy
price appropriate to its specification, age
and somewhat aged presentation.

Additional information from above RM auction:

The desirable early 3.8 liter roadster offered here was purchased from a private European collection of highly collectable sports cars. Well maintained and kept in a climate-controlled environment this E-Type is in very good overall condition and is a solid driving example that the vendor reports is a fit and roadworthy car. A recent service has been performed which saw major detail given to the synchronized gearbox and brake system. This major tune-up included a rebuild of the brakes, carburetor and cooling system and replacement of all fluids. In addition, the seats have been upgraded for comfort.

Finished in classic maroon with biscuit interior and chrome wire wheels this E-Type has enjoyed careful maintenance and loving care, and should reward its new owner with the excellent performance and timeless good looks, just as Malcolm Sayer intended over 40 years ago.
