Description:
Finished in red with beige leather upholstery and a black mohair hood, this particular left-hand drive example has been part of the collection since 1993. An early 'flat floor' car, it was reputedly built in October 1961 (though not registered until July 1962). The subject of an extensive 'ground up' restoration by American specialist Catron-Paine Classic Jaguars in 1989-1990, it apparently scored 99.7 out of 100 at a Jaguar Clubs of North America concours meet in July 1990. Little used since, it is offered for sale with a photographic log of the rebuild and copy concours sheet etc.
Chassis number 875997
Engine number R2471-9

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
