1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster
CHASSIS NO. 875432
ENGINE NO. R1575-9
$140,000 - $170,000
Without Reserve

An Exceptional Example from the First Year of E-Type Production
Highly Sought-After Flat-Floor Welded Louver Roadster
Numerous Early Production Features
Stunning Factory-Delivered Color Combination
Documented Matching- Numbers Example
Recently Completed Show-Quality Restoration
Offered with Tools, Handbook and JDHT Certificate

One of the first 500 E-Type Roadsters produced, this spectacular Jaguar was completed on August 30, 1961, finished in the elegant period color combination of Pearl Grey over red leather upholstery. As Pearl Grey was only available for Series 1 E-Types, it is believed that fewer than 125 Roadsters left the factory in this handsome livery.

Originally dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York, the E-Type Roadster was sold new to First and E Auto Park in San Diego, California, and has remained in the US ever since. The current owner, a Southern California Jaguar specialist, acquired the car in March 2011 and embarked on a comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration executed to the very highest standards.

Following a five-year apprenticeship at Jaguar-Daimler dealership in Wales, the consignor has enjoyed working on XKs and E-Types for over four decades. His in-depth knowledge of Jaguar's standards and practices are immediately evident in the exemplary attention to detail and high-quality approach to restorations.

Faithfully presented in its original factory-supplied color scheme, this E-Type has been painstakingly restored, both mechanically and cosmetically, and the consignor reports that it looks and runs like new. Unlike many restored E- Types, even the smallest details of this Roadster have been meticulously addressed, from the correct blue Girling shock absorbers to the original specification Dunlop RS5 tires. As a result of this exceptional work, this rare, early- production E-Type is certainly among the finest restored examples to be found.

Given its 1961 build date, this Jaguar is equipped with rare and distinguishing features, such as welded bonnet louvers, separate throttle linkages on the SU carburetors, a pumpkin-colored cylinder head, twin-blade boot hinges, a single water drain in the boot and early inner bulkhead buffers, which were carried over from the first external bonnet latch cars. In addition to these rare and important features, this E-Type Roadster is a genuine matching-numbers example that retains many original date-coded components, such as the master cylinder and wiper motors.

Accompanied by a JDHT Certificate, tool kit and maintenance handbook, as well as extensive pictures and invoices documenting the restoration, this freshly restored E-Type ought to be a strong contender at the most competitive concours d'elegance and JCNA-judged events. In addition to their eligibility for countless shows and classic car gatherings, these early E-Types are wonderful drivers' cars and are ideal entrants for organized tours and rallies.

Given its elegant original color scheme, distinctive early-production features, matching- numbers 3.8-litre engine and sensational show- quality restoration, this E-Type Roadster is a worthy addition to the most exclusive collections and deserves special consideration for its many outstanding qualities.

Hello

I have a similar car 1961 being restored. Does anyone have a paint code for the E Type Pearl Grey?
