Current bid $25,700, no reserve, 3 bids, 6 days left in auction, 40k miles. This auction is based in Melrose, Florida.
Sellers comment:
A restored 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 roadster. It has welded bonnet louvers, a flat floor, and outside bonnet latches. It is the 366th XKE imported to the United States. This is one of the most beautiful, most rare, and most collectible Jags there is. The new owner will have something very special.
Car # 875366
Engine # R2261-9
Gearbox # EB1297JS
Body # R1287
She has chrome XKE wheels and nearly new Michelin tires.
The car is a beautiful silver/gray metallic. The interior is a
gorgeous and complimentary light (dove) gray.
Vehicle Condition
The previous owner had this car rebuilt from the ground up: There is no rust. You can eat off the undercarriage sheetmetal.
The motor has been completely rebuilt and bored 40thou. with racing pistons, and the head has been completely rebuilt with all new parts.
The clutch has been replaced.
The carburettors have been rebuilt.
A Crane electronic ignition was installed as well as an auxiliary cooling fan.
The top and tonneau are almost new.
As the man I bought the car from said, "Everything on the car has been rebuilt or replaced except the gearbox EVERYTHING". (The gearbox has been inspected and found to be fine).
He spent seven years on his labor of love and put 100 miles on the car before selling it to me. I've done very little to the car except enjoy her on weekends. I fixed the gas gauge by replacing the sending unit, replaced a cantankerous fuel pump, replaced a gasket in the fuel bowl, and tuned her up. I doubt I've put 500 miles on her (the odometer does not work).
This car starts immediately every time (just hold the choke lever all the way up for a second). It does not overheat (and I live in Melrose, Florida). She does not smoke. She runs strong, sounds great, and looks unbelievable.
The previous owner installed a wooden grab handle, console, dash, and glovebox door and a great sounding radio. I thought, from a purist's point of view, that that was a terrible thing to do until I saw his workmanship. They are beautiful! All can be removed very easily and the car restored to original with no problem. He also installed Series 2 seats and had them recovered. They, of course, are not original, but they are far more comfortable. The new owner will get the original, unrestored, seats, and the car of a life time.

Cooper Classic Cars, 137 Perry St. New York, New York 10014
Sellers description:
VIN number: 875366
Gun metal grey with deep red hides
This is a very early series 1 3.8 roadster with the outside bonnet latches, welded bonnet louvers and flat floors. The body on
this car is extremely nice and rust free, as can be seen by the undercarriage photos. Paint is good but not show quality.
Chrome and glass are very nice. All gauges, switches and accessories (except clock) in working order. The interior was just restored using proper materials and patterns for a 1961 e-type. This included new wood for the seat frames and the
aluminum trim pieces for the console.
Mechanically the engine is in great condition with very good oil pressure. The compression was tested on Dec 5 and found to
be excellent .... 1=158, 2=158, 3=159, 4=159, 5=162, 6=160
$78,000
