Ebay item 12/9/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1961-Jaguar-XKE-Series-1-3-8-Convertible-S ...
Current bid $35,000.00 (Reserve not met), 1 bid, 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This 1961 Jaguar XKE 3.8 Series I Roadster with Side Latches is the 231st XKE ever produced. The car is gun metal grey with black leather interior and a black stayfast canvas top. It is a matching numbers car. This car was a nut and bolt restoration taken completely apart. We have an album with photos and complete documentation. It was owned by Jack Bryan in Texas who is an Engineer and Presedent of Bryan Design Works. His company has developed the finest 5 Speed transmission designed specifically for the Series I XKE. This car was fitted with the DW5 transmission; however, it is sold with the original 4-speed which comes in a box. This car is quite possibly the finest XKE that I have driven.
We feel this is one of the finest XKE Jaguars in the world.

Just had eBay remove the scam listing.
Back to the car. The paint is absolutly stunning. This car has me over the dam in thinking about changing my color 1E13902. The hell with the original silver blue, This car has my mind made up and going to copy this gunmetal mirror like finish. A nice tan or biscuit with black cloth top will look smashing.
Thanks for the push 875232!

Auction description:
Sale 19465 - Les Grandes Marques à Monaco, 20 May 2011
Monaco
Lot No: 120
External bonnet lock
1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 'Flat Floor' 3.8-Litre Roadster
Chassis no. 875232
Engine no. R1357-9
This matching-numbers example is the 232nd left-hand drive roadster built and has the flat floor, external bonnet locks and various other features that characterise these highly desirable and rare early models. Its accompanying Jaguar heritage certificate shows that the car was sold new in the USA via Jaguar Cars, New York and first owned by one B E Martin of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. '875232' was owned for more than 20 years by Jack Bryan, President of Bryan Design Works. Bryan's company was responsible for developing what - arguably - is the best five-speed gearbox for a Series 1 E-Type, and accordingly one of these DW5 gearboxes is fitted to this car.
Originally finished in gunmetal grey, the E-Type was fully restored in the early 1990s by Dan Mooney's Classic Jaguar in Houston, Texas, USA and is fitted with a very expensive Becker Mexico stereo system incorporating satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Described by the vendor as in 'show' condition, the car is offered with the aforementioned heritage certificate, a photographic record of the restoration, old US title, FIVA passport and Greek 'historic' registration papers. A rare and magnificent Jaguar that represents a fitting tribute to the E-Type's 50th anniversary.
Estimate: €90,000 - 120,000

Auction description:
Lot 332
Monaco registration
Chassis 875232
Engine R 1357-9
- Very rare first series with flat floors and external bonnet lockers
- High quality restoration
- Rare 5-speed 'box with "Matching numbers"
Our E-Type was sold new in New York through Jaguars Cars on July 26, 1961, as indicated by its Jaguar Heritage certificate and delivered to its first owner in Ohio. This is one of the first series, with all the specifics such as flat floors, opening of the bonnet by external hooks, hood louvers, a zipper for opening the trunk in black plastic and various small hidden details that characterize these most sought after by collectors of the marque. It was completely restored in the early 1990s by Classic Jaguar in Houston and repainted in its original colour of "Opalescent Gunmetal ". It was in the hands of Jack Bryan for over 20 years, the latter, as the head of Bryan Design Works was the creator of the five-speed gearbox of the Jaguar DW5, with which it is obviously equipped. The oil pressure is correct at idle at 45 psi and the starter "Wosp" has been strengthened. The front brakes work with aluminum calipers with 4 pistons from Coopercraft and the exhaust has been changed to stainless steel. It is equipped with a modern Becker Mexico radio including a satellite navigation system and Bluetooth connectivity. It has its engine of origin and its front crossmember has the chassis number plate. The car is coming with a record of invoices and photos of the restoration, its former US registration details, as well as a historic Greek passport and a FIVA card. This splendid E-Type represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most legendary of convertible sports cars of the 20th century, which is still available at a reasonable price and has great investment potential.
Estimation 140 000 - 180 000 €
