My Grandfather was Hal Storm, he ordered this car new. It arrived in S.F. California on Sept. 15, 1961 - it has always been in the family, it's with my father now.

Mostly original except for tires, battery, exhaust and a few minor service items. Repainted the original color in 1992 and the top was replaced around that time as well. It currently has a little over 90K miles on the odometer.

My father corrected me - he had it repainted in 1990. That was when he installed the fresh top, also he swapped the seats from one side to the other - to get a few more years of use from the original hides. The odometer currently shows 95,100 miles.

Please don't inquire about purchasing this car - it is not for sale - it's a very special family heirloom.

My Dad woke up early (1:30am ish) Monday Oct. 09, 2017 to a red glowing sky. The Tubbs fire was all around him. He was able to make it out safely, but he thought his house had burnt to the ground. On Monday Oct. 16, 2017 he was escorted in since the area was still blocked off. He had a few trees burn, plus some stuff stored outside, but his house was fine. He grabbed a few items to get through the next couple days, and drove the E-Type out - to be stored somewhere else for a while. The car is fine, no smoke or fire damage. I just wanted to report the good news!

Of course we feel sad for those who lost so much in the northern California fires, and wish them all the best going forward.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
