    Sellers description:
This rare Sidelatch 3.8 Roadster is presented in its factory colors of Carmen Red over a Black Leather Interior. Built in June of 1961 and first delivered to Ft Lauderdale, Florida this Matching numbers car was restored about 15 years ago. It had a couple minor scratches in the paint and we just completed a first rate paint job on the car. The car has recently been tuned and drives very well. The suspension, engine, and transmission perfom as they should. The car shows 90,000 miles, however we were told the engine was completely rebuilt and in the process and new cylinder head was installed. There is not a spot of rust on this car. Comes with a Black Factory Hardtop and Heritage Certificate. Serial # 875139 making this the 139th E-type built.

full matching numbers "flat floor, outside bonnet lock"

875139 is a rare full matching numbers "flat floor, outside bonnet lock" Jaguar E type roadster finished in Carmen Red over black leather.
The car is in a close to concours condition and also has a rare original factory Hardtop in perfect condition.
Being an outside bonnet locks car, it also features the very early bonnet construction of welded louvres only seen on a small number of cars.

This e type was completed in June 1961 and delivered as the 139th OTS-LHD car to "Jaguar Cars" of New York.
The car only had 3 prior owners and it was repatriated to Belgium in 2013.
It spent the majority of its life in the Hamptons, New-York, where it was perfectly maintained.

This matching numbers car is rust free and in original condition.

Car to be at auction 5/14

    Auction description:
    Monaco
    10 May 2014
    Lot 154
    1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster
To be auctioned on Saturday, May 10, 2014
    €200.000 - €250.000

    Chassis no. 875139
    Engine no. R1177-9
    Body no. R1227
    Gearbox no. EB284JS

Matching numbers with desirable black hardtop
Early flat-floor example with external bonnet locks

According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, which accompanies the car, this E-Type was built on 23 June 1961, and it was sold new to a W.R. Samson, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on 31 July 1961. As an early-production example, it features the unique and desirable external bonnet locks, as well as welded louvers. Eventually, the car was acquired by Lawrence M. Kaynes, who restored it in the 1990s. During this time, the engine was completely rebuilt, and in the process, a new cylinder head was also installed. Mr Kaynes maintained his E-Type at his property in the Hamptons, New York, and would only drive it occasionally during visits.

In 2013, the car was acquired by the current owner, who refinished it in its original colour of Carmen Red. It was then imported to Europe, where it underwent a substantial restoration of its interior and engine bay. The intent of the restoration was to maintain the car's originality, including the patina of the original beautiful black leather seats. The odometer currently shows approximately 90,000 miles, which are believed to be original.

As Jaguar's most iconic sports car, ownership of an E-Type Roadster should be a requisite for any collector or enthusiast. This rare outside bonnet lock example, in its factory-original red over black with black hardtop, is in spectacular mechanical and cosmetic condition, and it is certainly worthy of close inspection.
