Current bid $58,100 reserve not met, 7 bids 9 days left in auction. 33k miles. Car now said to be in Lafayette, California.

    Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar E-type 3.8 Liter Roadster with external bonnet latches, welded hood louvers, and factory flat floors. This is the 119th E-Type produced at the factory, manufactured on 15 June 1961. A California car that has always been garaged, with the original flat floor metal perfectly solid and never replaced. One of the rare early cars with a superb original color combination: Opalescent Gunmetal with Light Blue interior. Freshly restored to fine-driver condition: New base/clear paint; all new body rubbers and seals; new Connolly leather interior; new convertible top; new redline tires; new clutch; new stainless steel exhaust system; rebuilt SU carburetors; new brakes; new suspension bushings -- far too many details to list. Engine is a 1961 E-type, # R2131-9. A rare and stellar example of the one of the finest designs ever conceived, and the car drives beautifully.

Jaguar "Light Blue" used in early E's was a light gray colour.

    Beware of this seller!
Bought a rustfree "original survivor" 1966 E FHC this year from him, now called "Rusty A" in Germany, rusted through floors, very bad painting, many damages, nice pictures a few feet away, so one should have a very close look to that car, this man is a lyer!
And what's the value of a flatfloor with non matching engine, later series 1
bonnet (external bonnet latches?) and different transmission?

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster (Outside bonnet lock)

    Lot Number 188

    Registration 873 UYE

    Chassis Number 875119

    Engine Number R2131-9

    Odometer reading 34,474 miles

    Estimate £150,000 - £180,000

Rare, early outside bonnet lock model

Received a light restoration in the US

Good car retaining many original features

This delightful left hand drive Jaguar E-Type Roadster, fitted with the correct ‘external bonnet locks’ was supplied by Jaguar Cars, New York on 28th June to R. Donan, Excelsior, Minnesota. It is thought the car went to California shortly after registration, where it has spent most of its time, confirmed by its rust-free and original condition. Chassis number ‘875119’ was supplied with engine number R1156-9, which was replaced with a 3.8 litre engine number R2131-9. This was also manufactured in 1961. The original engine block is supplied with the car and we are advised it could be restored and refitted to the car, should the new owner choose to do so. At the time of the engine change the original Moss gearbox was removed and replaced with a much more user-friendly synchromesh gearbox from a later 4.2 litre example. The car was purchased by the current owner in California and repatriated to the UK in February 2014, however prior to the car leaving the US she received a light restoration, retaining its original colour combination of Opalescent Gunmetal Grey with light blue interior. During the restoration it was found that the body still had most of its original features including three-piece, handmade doors, welded in bonnet louvres, additional drain holes in the boot channel and petrol filler aperture. Other notable original features are the Butler rear number plate lights, Dunlop brakes and the factory supplied cooling fan. The only other significant upgrade, other than the all-synchromesh gearbox is an aluminium radiator. This lovely E-Type is supplied with a V5C registration document, a copy of the Californian title, the Heritage certificate, a file containing photographs and various invoices and the original ‘First Edition’ handbook. Being the 119th left hand drive E-Type manufactured this is a very rare opportunity to purchase a good example of the ‘Holy Grail’ of E-Types and is one of the most desirable British icons available today.

Inspected this car at Historics yesterday. What a nice proper straight car. Noted the original chassis plate and the original body tag are both still present as well as lots of other early unique features including the hockey post chromes, lower windscreen chrome, door chromes and butlers rear lights. The tub is correct and has the correct front and rear bulkheads as well as the correct boot floor, hinges and the single centre drain hole.

The original matching numbers engine was also present and included but needs work with a casting date of June 1961
