This has just been sold to a good home, now awaiting restoration

Restoration of this car begins on Monday 15th January 2010.A remarkably rust free very early car that has been cut about to receive V8 power and transmission.Fitted with huge Porche turbo wheel arches and whale tail spoiler it can only be described as 'awful but nice'.It will be put back to original 1961 specification and apart from the geabox tunnel and wings needs little work to the body shell.

In the process of restoration.A very solid rust free car sadly fitted with a V8 engine and box in the USA.flared wheel arches and spoiler. Will be returned to 3.8 jaguar engine and period moss gearbox.

Restored by 'E' Type UK in 2011

    2011-08-06 05:48:12 | Lofty writes:

Seen under restoration at 'E' Type UK.Sadly and as with a lot of restorations the shell was apparently not as sound as it first appeared and a virtually new shell has been incorporated. As the original engine and gearbox were replaced by Chevrolet units while still in the USA an upgrated and modified Jaguar engine and 5 speed gearbox are being incorporated in the rebuild together with aluminium bonnet and other up -grades.From what is planned it should be a fantastic vechile on completion.

Restoration virtually complete.A period 1961 casting 3.8 Engine has been found and rebuilt and will be installed with a 5 speed gearbox.
Painted in original colour of Cream with Red interior.
Car then ready for European touring as LHD.Will be For Salerno the near future.

As car virtually complete now trying to trace early Race History in USA.Restoration revealed:Roll Over Bar,Modifications to Wheel Arches for wider wheel rims ,removal of trim,Bucket Seat,Aircraft type seat belt, etc.Searching SCCA records but there were a lot of early White cars racing in the early 1960's
Any help from previous owners, race historians etc would be appreciated.

    2015-08-03 14:36:20 | Harry Stevens writes:

DK Engineering of Chorleywood have completed the restoration and are offering the car for sale. Described as a competition specification flat floor, outside bonnet lock and fully restored E type. The 58th car manufactured on 29 May 1961, making it one of the earliest examples. Dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York on 8 June 1961, it is a rare flat floor , outside bonnet lock variant and benefits from features unique to the early cars; bonnet construction with built in louvers and a non ribbed air box, characteristic of early models. There is evidence of it being a race car earlier in its life , this car has a Jaguar non standard race ratio differential that Jaguar offered for competition purposes only and it was fitted with a SCCA roll hoop and brace; the holes and plates for which were discovered on the strip down for restoration.

The car has undergone compete restoration, detailed by an extensive photographic record. Rebuilt to ZP specification using the 'Preparation for Competition' handbook issued by Jaguar in 1961. The restoration to this specification is similar to how the car was equipped in its early life. The car has Koni shock absorbers, larger diameter roll bars and torsion bars; a low ratio differential, compensated for by an upgraded 5 speed close ratio gearbox; competition engine with polished cylinder head, D type camshafts, forged pistons, lightened and balanced components and flowed SU carburettors. An oil cooler and wasp dynamo look alike alternator are also fitted. The exhaust system is a Haywood and Scott 1961 FIA pattern. The drivers side has a recessed floor and cut away rear section for the seats, as the original competition ZP cars had. An original chronometric counter is present along with a 1961 Derrington steering wheel. The radiator and electric fan are upgraded and the brakes are Mark 9 Jaguar with larger diameter, thicker discs The wheels are triple laced 6 inch and fitted with Avon ZZ tyres.

The whole project was undertaken with a no expense spared attitude and a record of all bills are present, which totals in excess of £145,000. This is an exceedingly rare vehicle and must be considered a unique opportunity to acquire a very early Jaguar that is deeply enriched in the early history of the company. Couple the top speed of 150mph with the astonishing looks it is easy to see why an early E type is so sought after. The car is fresh from restoration and in superb condition throughout being ready to drive and enjoy immediately.

John S's comment is accurate-all the history we know about this car is open for all to read on this magnificent site-no frills no bullshit !
Less Trafford built the engine and the rest is above.

If you are not speculating, this is the car to own:

    - early
    - authentic
    - tuned engine (with periodic camshafts, etc.)
    - better gear box --> with much better gear shifts unfolding the full temperament of this powerful sports car
    - better handling and breaking
    - breath taking beautiful
    - albeit non matching numbers
