    30/09/2016:
A BIT OF HISTORY OF THE CAR TAKEN FROM LAST OWNER:
it was sold new in Australia (as confirmed by Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate) and owned by a corporate gentleman who worked for Fosters, and then purchased by a Japanese who imported into Japan and planned to do a full restoration. The shop that was to perform the restoration stripped the car and shortly after went bankrupt. The owner received the car back in pieces and it sat in his garage for about 6 years. And finally he has decided to sell the car. The sale of the car does not come with any service history or manuals unfortunately.

DETAILED LIST OF WHAT IT IS AVAILABLE:
    -Engine

    -Exhaust pipe
    -Front window screen

This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 FHC is a wonderfully presented example of the iconic and beautifully styled classic British sports car, which recently underwent a full, ‘nut and bolt’ restoration.

Under the bonnet sits the original matching-numbers naturally aspirated 3.8-litre straight-six, fed by triple SU carburettors, delivering around 265bhp to the rear wheels via a four-speed Moss manual transmission.

An original right-hand-drive car; this example was originally an Australia-delivered model, which was later imported to Japan before being fully stripped for restoration. It was then imported into the UK and has been with the first UK owner for eight years.

It comes with the period non-transferable registration mark ‘AEM 9’.

The car was treated to an extensive, three-year restoration by the renowned Tudor Black Coachworks with no expense spared, at a cost of nearly £150,000, which was completed in 2022.

It is reported to be a full matching-numbers car, accompanied by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

Benefiting from a selection of desirable upgrades to improve reliability and usability, in the seller’s view this is one of the finest E-Types on the market.

The odometer indicates 60,531 miles, though this is not warranted.

    EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This E-Type Series 1 is finished in one of the most popular colour combinations of Old English White over an Oxblood Red leather-trimmed interior, featuring matching carpets, a black dashboard, and chrome trim accents.

It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels with two-spoke knock-offs, shod in Blockley tyres.

Equipment includes a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths gauges, dashboard toggle switches, heater and ventilation controls, and a push-button radio.

This car has been fitted with several sought-after upgrades to make it even more desirable, including an aluminium header tank, aluminium radiator, sports ignition coil, stainless-steel exhaust, and triple-laced wire wheels.

The car comes with a Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, the V5C, original owner’s handbooks, a documentation folder including photos and paperwork covering the restoration, and a large collection of pre-restoration documents supporting the car’s history.

    SERVICE HISTORY

As noted above, this E-Type underwent a full, ‘nut and bolt’ restoration between 2018 and 2022. The work was carried out by classic restoration specialist Tudor Black coachworks at a cost of nearly £150,000, and included an engine rebuild.

    SUMMARY

This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 FHC is a superb, ‘numbers matching’ example of the elegant classic British sports car, which benefits from a recent no-expense-spared restoration at a cost of nearly £150,000. Presented with an ever-popular Old English White finish over a rich Oxblood Red leather-trimmed cabin, and boasting a handful of desirable upgrades, it would make stunning addition to any assembly of sought-after classics, and a stylish companion for weekend drives, fair-weather cruising, and visits to classic car shows alike.
