    I purchased the above e-type
    in AUG2003.
When I got the car I was told it had an all syncro box in it, I was dissappointed as I like Moss boxes in the early E's. The transmission tunnel appreaed to have been modified. The original handbreak was missing and had what looked like something from a Japanese car in its place. There was no alloy centre consol panel, only the alloy dash panel. I wanted to take the car back to some originality with regards the alloy trim and correct e-type hand break. When I started work on the car, I couldn't believe what I found. The previous owner had put a gearbox in the car from an s-type jaguar and he cut the floors and cross member to make the box fit due to the 9inches the overdrive unit adds to the synco box. The other amazing thing was that the Jaguar Car club in Sydney had allowed the car to go on their vintage registration plates which I thought amazing for this none original car. I tried to contact the previous owner of the vehicle as I purchased the car from a dealer who the car was consigned to, the original owner did not want to talk with me about the car at all. This made me aware that their could be more than what I had originally found.
The car is now in Christchurch New Zealand for a total restoration to original spec. I've purchased a Moss box from a supplier here in Australia who has been very helpful when it came to answering my questions about the car. The car should be ready for NOV/DEC 2005 and will certainly send a picture for your gallery. Great to see this website is available for E-Type recognition.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
