I have owned this car from new. As far as I can determine it is the third oldest one owner car in the world. I maintain a register of one owner E's www.jagqld.org.au/Bulletin/OneOwner.htm The car was restored1985-7 and has since won several local concours awards

Lovely car, Ian, and I'm sure you've got a lot of memories associated with this one. Just checked out your website--and your garage! Your cars could not ask for a better living arrangement.

E-type 860876 was ordered by Ian Richardson in August 1961 and was delivered new to Fiji, where he then worked, in December 1962. Following an accident the car was totally restored by Steve Sulis (Classic Autocraft) in 1985-87. Ian still owned this car at the time of his death in July 2022.
In September 1999 Ian recorded on Jag-Lovers.org that 6 months after taking delivery of his E-Type, the North West Fiji Car Club held a sprint meeting on the Nadi International Airport main runway. E-type 860876 recorded a standing 1/4 mile of 15.0 seconds and a flying 1/4 mile speed of 138.5 mph (after a short run up). Ian stated: “Although this was not the car’s potential maximum speed, it is probably the highest speed recorded in Fiji. Since then air traffic density has increased and cars are no longer allowed on the strip, so my car probably still holds the Fiji land speed record”.
At the time of Ian’s death E-type 860876 was the automotive centrepiece of his living room which shared a glazed wall with the garage at his home a short distance outside Esk, Queensland.
Vale Ian Richardson.

Thanks for this post. Ian was a friend of mine and I already missed replies from him. Now I know that my fears became true. May he rest in peace. He was a really nice good guy. Will miss him - his car is fabulous and will hopefully find a new fanatic owner. Don’t know if I can upload a photo here - will try. Greetings to all from Berlin Germany Chris

The Lloyds auction ended at AU$172k + Buyer's premium of 7.5% = AU$184.9k. That was below reserve, but a sale was subsequently agreed.
