Seller's comment:
This is an absolute fantastic oportunity to own one of the finest cars in the world! This 1962 3.8 right hand drive series E-type is a complete work of art and has gone through a complete nut and bolt rebuild. It has all matching numbers and everything has been replaced or refurbished. Upgraded features that were not orginally on the car are:- triple delorto's carberation along with a six branch manifold, complete stainless steel exhaust system, 4 pot calipers for advanced braking, powered front fan for extra cooling, full harness seatbelts, royal red leather interior. Current mileage is only 600 miles so the engine is still being run in! It comes with a full years MOT and the free classic car road tax is valid until April 2014. I have also another set of chrome wire wheels that will come with the vehicle, however the tread is close to the minimum. The car has a extensive photo catalog of the rebuild and a full history book including heritage certificate. Unfortunately other commitments force requirement for its garage space. It is at a low starting bid for its pedigree however she must go on to her next custodial. £250 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end with the balance by the way of bank transfer. Happy bidding.

This extremely desirable early matching numbers RHD UK home market E-Type was, according to the accompanying Heritage Certificate, manufactured on 20th August 1962 and despatched to supplying dealer Henlys of London on 7th September that year and registered `MK 47'. One of just 1,798 RHD fixed head coupe examples produced, it was originally painted in Opalescent Dark Blue with red interior. At some point the colour was changed to Carmen Red. We are informed that `YHH 690' was the subject of an extensive restoration circa fifteen years ago and that it was then put into storage following completion of the work. More recently, having emerged from its slumbers, it has been the subject of c. £15,000 of recommissioning work which included a repaint and refurbishment of the triple Dellorto carburettors. Invoices and photographs detailing the work carried out are included in the accompanying history file.

With E-Type values, especially those of early chassis numbered cars, continuing to spiral ever skywards, `YYH 690' ticks all the right boxes in the desirability stakes - the vendor summing the model up simply as "the one to have".

Expected to possess a fresh MoT by the time of sale, the car is offered with the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, invoices and photographs of works carried out and two old-style logbooks. The Swansea V5 document is awaited from DVLA and it is hoped it will be with the documents during pre-sale viewing.

Sold by Yorkshire Classic and Sports Cars of Ripon in March 2016. It is described as an extremely desirable matching numbers RHD home market E Type, supplied by Yorkshire Classic and Sports Cars to the previous owner in July 2014.

It was the subject of a full restoration a few years ago. The mechanical refurbishment included works to the engine, clutch, front suspension, exhaust system, cooling system and rear axle. The bodywork was taken back to the bare metal, the shut lines were properly gapped, the engine bay was fully detailed prior to finishing the car in Carmen Red. Finally all bright work was replaced.

Noted upgrades include Kenlowe cooling fan, fitted with correct triple SU carburettors, 4 pot callipers to improve braking efficiency, 6 branch long exhaust manifold for improved performance and mid range torque, custom made black silicone hose set fitted, new MWS XW455/C chrome wheels and tyres, period radio with Bluetooth and Ipod connectivity, negative earth conversion.

A large history file with Jaguar Heritage certificate, original buff log book, and photographic record of the restoration work is included with the car. In October 2015 it underwent a service and health check with £8,000 of expenditure at the Jaguar Heritage workshop in Coventry.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
