Sellers comment:
This 1962 Jaguar E-Type is arguably the most sought after of all the E-Type range, being an original UK, RHD Series 1, 3.8 Fixed Head Coupé. This is a very good car that is to be sold with a sensible reserve. To give you an indication, if she were entered into a traditional classic car auction the starting guide price would be £11,000 to £12,000…..so read on!......Chassis No. 860310 has been with the current private vendor for 15 years. Accompanying the car is every consecutive MoT since 1987. These would indicate that in the past 17 years only 4,314 miles has been covered, or in other words an average of only 253 miles per year! The Jaguar Daimler Certificate/letter that comes with the car confirms that she was built in March 1962 and sold through Henlys of Manchester…..You are bidding on a car that is a pleasure to drive, which has recently passed its MoT and is naturally Tax exempt. The photographs are a fair representation of the car, especially the engine bay, but perhaps a little kind to the body work and interior trim. Although she sits straight & purposefully with generally good lines, the body and interior trim do require some attention. This is not essential work but in my opinion a sensible idea to improve an already good car…..She handles beautifully and pulls very well through every gear (first gear has slight whine). The engine, which has a stainless steel exhaust system fitted, starts first time, has good oil pressure, runs at normal temperature and idles smoothly. The brakes have been recently overhauled. Needless to say pulls up firmly and in a straight line. The interior features its original bucket seats, alloy dash and centre consol. The instruments all work perfectly. In my opinion the interior panels, roof lining, sill trim and carpets would benefit from being replaced as these are tatty through old age and use. The drivers door window frame is rattling and needs fixing as do the door rubbers… This is a great opportunity to purchase a very rare Jaguar E-Type at a sensible price, that looks and drives very well that would benefit from some on going esthetic improvements

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
