Sellers description:

1964 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Roadster

Sold For £45,100

Reg Number: HMT650B
Chassis Number:850894
Engine Number: RA6978-9
Cc: 3781
Body Colour: Carmen Red
Trim Colour: Biscuit
MOT ExpiryDate: Aug 2011

The 3.8 Roadster offered is a 1964 example with Carmen Red coachwork and Biscuit trim. We understand the E-type was the subject of a major restoration during 1995/1996 and was purchased by the vendor in 2004. Since entering his custodianship, 'HMT 650B' has reportedly been treated to electronic ignition, upgraded brakes and new seat belts, and had its cylinder head skimmed. The seller now considers the E-Type to have "excellent" bodywork, paintwork, engine and gearbox and "very good" interior trim. It is taxed until July and MOT'd into August.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
