For sale at Historics auction 7th June 2014
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2014-06-07/car/1962-jaguar-e-type-series-i-r ...
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
Registration VVS936
Chassis Number 850396
Engine Number R3934-9
Estimate £70,000 - £80,000
Manufactured on 31st January 1962 and despatched to Henlys of London on 16th February 1962, this 3.8 litre E-Type is a project with a difference. The vendor is a classic car enthusiast but, unfortunately has run out of time and space, making it difficult to complete this restoration project. The car has been completely stripped, bodywork attended to and repainted in the original colour of opalescent dark green. The bare shell is on a stand and able to be manoeuvred with care.
The rear subframe, engine, gearbox, interior trim, wiring loom, glass etc are all removed from the car, although everything is supplied and thought to be present. Obviously, if a purchaser chose to take the opportunity to rebuild the car mechanically, this would be the easiest and most cost effective way to do so. Jaguar E-Type Series I roadsters are in huge demand of late and this early example offers the purchaser the opportunity to complete the car to his/her own standard. This Jaguar is also supplied with a V5 registration document and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
