Sellers description:
Extremely nice example of a VERY low mileage, totally rust free 1971 Jaguar XKE V12 2+2. This is a very original one owner from 71 until 2007 the car being purchased new from Whittlesey Motors in Torrance CA. The car was driven daily for 2 years and garaged since 1973 ! It is now currently registered and licsensed in CA. Since bringing out of storage it has had a lot of work done including , carb and fuel system overhaul, all hoses, belts and cooling system reworked adding a new header tank. The tyres are new along with the car being fully serviced, tuned up and brake work carried out. This car is totally rust free. Starting easily from cold it has plenty of power and runs and drives well. The engine sounds excellent, with a nice V12 exhaust note, has good oil pressure without any ticking or other unwanted noises. Yes it does have some oil leaks, what else would you expect. On the road it has very good manners. The steering light and sharp the ride firm yet forgiving. the trans seems to shift from 1st straight to top, probably has a stuck valve from sitting. The rear axle is a little noisy, qute common with these limited slip diffs. The gauges all work along with the major electrical items the AC does not blow cold. The heater fans work and the controls seem to function. The indicators were working until I tried the Hazards which work but now only the front lamps illuminate with the indicators, needs the hazzard switch cleaned or replaced. Even the cigarette lighter and the clock work, very unusual. The car does not overheat with both electric fans cycling on and off and it charges fine. It has a good original spare wheel with a Dunlop tire in the trunk along with the original jack bag, wheel brace, hubcap tool and a tube socket still wrapped from the factory! The interior is in good shape the leather being very nice considering its age. The seats recline and do not collapse when sat in. The headliner is starting to come down in places, mostly above the drivers head. The car has had some areas repainted and has suffered some damage, mostly from being stored in the garage. There are dents in the back below the rear door and at the hinge area, although it still opens and closes fine. There is also some damage to the left rear wheel arch that looks to have been caused by a tire blowing out. The roof has some small dents from things being dropped or stored on it. There is some damage to the front underneath around the air scoop and behind the aamco bars. Lastly the drivers door looks to have been opened too far at some point and has contacted the body and left a vertical indentation. These area's are all shown in the pictures. Having noted this damage - at least it has not been covered up and you can see what you are getting. The paint is generally quite good and almost all original. Under the car is very nice without the usual damage to the aluminium covers at the front and even the airducts to the rear brakes are not destroyed as they usually are. The chrome is complete and decent however the outer door weather strip and bumper to body rubber strips are showing thier age. The floors and body are completely rust free, this car has not seen any harsh weather being in southern California all of its life, garaged most of it! This car is very complete, very low mileage.
