Western driver comment: If the mechanicals are decent and the car needs only a general tune, this was a decent buy. However, the V12 engine on these fat cats can suck up $5K faster than you can spell “Coventry.

EXCEPTIONAL MOTOR CARS AT THE PETERSEN MUSEUM, LOS ANGELES
1971 JAGUAR E-TYPE 4.2 SERIES II COUPE
Chassis No. 1S71968
Price realised USD 8,812
Light metallic blue with black leather interior
Engine: six cylinder in-line, double overhead camshaft, 4,235cc, 171bhp at 5,400rpm; Gearbox: four-speed manual; Suspension: front, independent torsion bar; rear, independent coil; Brakes: discs all round. Left hand drive.
The E-Type Coupe on offer here is finished in an attractive light metallic blue with black leather interior. The paint shows fairly well and is undoubtedly an older repaint. There is some minor blistering and spidering across the bonnet and in the higher stress areas. The motor and engine bay appear presentable and in original condition, however, a thorough detailing would help its overall appearance. The black leather interior is in good original condition showing the appropriate wear for a vehicle of this age. The Jaguar features steel wheels with hubcaps, a manual gearbox and a stereo cassette deck. These stylish British coupes are affordable, sexy and fun to drive. We understand that this example has been recently serviced, however, we would recommend a thorough mechanical examination prior to being employed for everyday use.
