It's time to let go and find a new home for this Jaguar. I have been the owner of this vehicle since 25-Nov. 1997. (26 Years) This vehicle is a Driver, not a "Trailer Queen". It has been in a R & R status since purchased and driven as desired during these years of work. All aspects of the vehicle, bumper to bumper, have been attended to at various times as the R & R progressed over the years. It is in excellent running condition with no issues.
The #1 Issue: The air condition pump is disconnected due to a failure in the drive hub. The system has coolant and pressure at present, but the pump has been damaged. It appears that one or more of the driven friction disc retainers broke. (AC Off) This resulted in the disc riding in contact with the primary hub creating heat and catching fire. The heat caused pump damage.
The vehicle factory paint color was Primrose Yellow. The interior was all Black. The Black with clear coat exterior paint was done prior to my purchasing the vehicle. At some time before my ownership, there was damage done on top of the Bonett which was repaired and the entire Bonett top was repainted.
This is a NUMBERS MATCHING vehicle and has a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.
The ASR (American Sunroof Co) unit Is original to the car from the time of the first sale by the original dealer. Presumably in California. My research, over the years, I have found less than 12, E-Type Ser III, with this Sunroof.
There are a number of customization items I have added over the years such as the Water Deflector Shields, above the spark plugs, are made of Stainless Steel and not Aluminum. There is a radiator cooling fan green indicator light on the instrument panel to indicate the fans are actually running. There is also a manual switch to operate the fans if the temperature sensor should fail to function or as you wish.
Most all of the rubber items, Coolant hoses, Body seals, etc., have been replaced at one time or another with new.
The original windshield has been replaced due to excessive pitting and wiper damage. I regretted needing to do this since the new windshield has minimal tinting.
The wire wheels are the originals which require inner tubes for the tires. (Not Tubeless)
The Exhaust System is all Stainless Steel. It is properly installed and supported with no sagging or hanging down.
The ignition system is a Crane Cams XR700 with a PS40 performance coil. There is a brand new XR700 spare for back up supplied with the vehicle, plus an assortment of various new and used original parts, books and literature.

This 1971 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is believed to have been fitted with a dealer-installed sunroof when new and stayed with its first owner for just a year before remaining with its second owner in Seattle, Washington, for the next five decades. The car is finished in black over burgundy leather and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 that breathes through quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Shifting is through a three-speed automatic transmission linked with a limited-slip differential, and the car rides on 15” knock-off wire wheels coupled with Koni shocks at all four corners. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel is accompanied by burl wood trim as well as a push-button Phillips radio. Purchased by the seller in 2024, this Series III E-Type is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Mississippi title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black and is said to have been fitted with a dealer-installed sunroof when new. Further details include a forward-hinged louvered hood, uncovered headlights, and quad exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the paint is lifting in various areas around the body.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/70R15 Dunlop SP40 A/S tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Koni shocks have been added.
The 2+2 cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench seat upholstered in burgundy leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Burl wood trim adorns the dash and gear selector as well as the upper doors, and further interior amenities include a push-button Phillips AM/FM radio as well as a heater, a locking glovebox, and retractable front shoulder belts.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. It sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Recent work is said to have involved refreshing the cooling system as well as performing an oil change.
The Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust lists that the car was completed on March 19, 1971, and distributed via British Leyland of New York.
