Lot 130 at Artcurial Auctions Retromobile Sale in Paris on 2 February 2024. Sold for 29,800 euros. Catalogue description below.

As evidenced by its Jaguar Heritage certificate, this elegant V12 coupe was built on 11 December 1970 and sold new in France on 26 March 1971 by the British Leyland distributor although its first registration did not happen until 23 July. Finished in Old English White, it had a Navy Blue interior and was equipped with a manual gearbox. It current owner acquired it in 2013 when the car was repainted in its original colour and with 36,733 kms recorded on the odometer. Inside the leather upholstery is patinated and it has previously been retrimmed in Grey leather.

This E Type was recommissioned at 36,818 kms in February 2022. This included an overhaul of the carburettors, repair of the fuel pump, an oil change, replacement of spark plugs and service of the braking system. The beautiful V12 engine is matching numbers and it is fitted with a manual gearbox; in France since new, not a common combination. This example is in used condition and it will enable enthusiasts to taste the thrill of this model at a reasonable price.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
