www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/classiccars/viewdetails.php
Auction description:
Lot number 26
Hammer value £17,100
Description Jaguar E-Type V12 FHC
Registration KDA 990K
Year 1972
Colour Powder Blue
Engine size 5,343 cc
Chassis No. 1550522
First registered in November 1971, this remarkable example has had just one registered owner from new and has covered only 33,300 miles in its 38-year life to date. Always kept in a heated garage, it remains totally original and has never been painted, welded or restored in any significant way. Maintained from new by Central Garage in Lichfield, it comes with a letter from them confirming that the mileage is genuine.
In April 2008 the car was sent to Jaguar specialists XK Engineering in Coventry for a thorough overhaul to prepare it for more regular use. This included replacing all the mechanical items that deteriorate over time (such as rubber hoses, bushes and mountings) and a full brake overhaul. The vendor states that XK Engineering commented that they had “rarely seen a better, more original example”. With an MOT and tax until March 2010 and freshly recommissioned, the car is now ready to be enjoyed by its new second owner.

As its accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms, this particular Powder Blue manual gearbox example was supplied new by Hewitts Garages of Wolverhampton and was registered to first owner Mr AW Tipper of Lichfield in November 1971. He was to keep the car for the next 38 years before finally selling it to the current vendor in 2009. The indicated mileage of 37,200 is said to be genuine although there is insufficient history to warrant this.
The car appears to be in very nice and largely original condition throughout, with good panel fit and a well-preserved navy blue hide interior. The full-length Webasto sun roof is also in good condition and the car has been converted from Stromberg to SU carbs at some point. Bills on file show that many of the suspension bushes were replaced in April 2008 when new rear shock absorbers, a new brake servo and a new header tank were also fitted. New clutch slave and master cylinders were also fitted in March 2010. The original Radiomobile radio was refurbished in 2009.
It comes with the aforementioned Heritage Certificate, various bills and old MOT certificates and the original owner's handbook. With an MOT until May and taxed until the end of April, this lovely two-owner car is ready for immediate use.

Auction description:
Lot 246
£40,000 - £50,000
Goodwood Festival of Speed / 1971 Jaguar E-type Series 3 V12 2+2 Coupé Registration no. KDA 990K Chassis no. 1S 50522 Engine no. 7S 3899SA
• Three owners from new
• Present ownership since 2012
• Believed to be circa 39,423 miles from new
• Well maintained
A manual transmission model manufactured in September 1971, 'KDA 990K' was originally finished in light blue with dark blue trim. Sold new to Andrew W Tipper of Walter Tipper Ltd in Lichfield, the E-Type had enjoyed only one registered keeper (assumed to be the aforementioned Mr Tipper) and was showing a mere 33,300 miles when the previous (second) owner purchased it at a UK auction in 2009. Maintained from new by Central Garage in Lichfield, Staffordshire, the E-Type was said to have been kept in a heated garage and was described as totally original and 'never painted, welded or restored in any significant way'. Central Garage's letter confirming the mileage is on file. The current odometer reading is 39,423 miles.
In April 2008 the E-Type was sent to Jaguar specialists XK Engineering in Coventry for a thorough overhaul in preparation for more frequent use. These works included replacing all the usual items that deteriorate over time (rubber hoses, bushes, mountings, etc) and a full overhaul of the braking system. XK Engineering were quoted as saying they had 'rarely seen a better, more original example'.
The current (third) owner purchased the E-Type in March 2012. Accompanying documentation consists of a copy JDHT Certificate; old/current V5/V5C registration documents; a quantity of expired tax discs and MoTs; numerous bills; and an original owner's handbook for the Series 3 E-Type.
