For Auction Bonhams Jaguar Sale.

Sale 16250 - A Sale of Jaguar Motor Cars and Related Automobilia, 9 Aug 2008
XK60, Goodwood, Chichester, Sussex

Lot No: 206

Present owner since 1975
1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Registration no. WJJ 845M
Chassis no. 1S2685BW
Engine no. 7S15475 SB
Estimate: £20,000 - 25,000

This automatic-transmission Series III roadster was purchased by the current owner in 1975 and has covered a mere 58,000 miles in total from new, 10,000 of them over the course of the past 12 years. We are advised that the car benefited from a ‘bare metal’ bodywork renovation and repaint circa 1986 that included injecting body cavities with Waxoyl (details of work and estimate on file) while the engine is reported as in perfect working order, registering good oil pressure. A stainless-steel exhaust system is a recent improvement. Presented in generally good condition, the vehicle is offered with sundry invoices, assorted expired MoT certificates, Swansea V5 registration document and current MoT.

Sold by E Type UK in September 2021. Abbreviated seller's description below.

www.etypeuk.com/showroom/sold/jaguar-e-type-series-3-v12-rhd-ots-ts/

This original UK supplied 1974 OTS has had only 3 previous owners and has a large history file including the original Jaguar handbooks supplied in the original tan wallet. Benefitting from long continuous ownerships from a handful of enthusiast custodians, the E Type has been treated to a large amount of mechanical and cosmetic work, which includes bodywork and respray and a full engine rebuild. The work totalled 24,000 euros, as the E Type resided in France at the time. Finished in its original colour of Old English White with a totally original black interior including fantastic patinated seats, original carpets and radio. The car is full matching numbers and we believe the low mileage of 65,200 to be correct due to the condition of the untouched interior as well as reference to the history file.

Delivered new to Beck Kindergarten Ltd, Beckenham, Kent the car was owned by them for just a year before being sold to Russell Bryan Tant of Luton who owned the car from 1975 to 2008, it was purchased by the previous owner in a non running state. The car then moved to France where the owner was working. In France re-commissioning work was carried out including bodywork, full engine rebuild and mechanical check over, with worn parts replaced. Since then the car has been maintained accordingly with the necessary work carried out. Today the car presents in fantastic mechanical order with a beautiful original interior and bodywork. In a world of fully restored classic cars, a factory original E Type is a rarity to be appreciated. The car has great torque, the 3 speed gearbox shifts well and is the perfect partner for the smooth V12.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
