Car was at auction 9/13
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php
Auction description:
Lot number 41
Hammer value N/S (est. £50,000 - £55,000)
Description Jaguar E-Type S3 V12 Roadster
Registration NRS 924M
Year 1974
Colour White
Engine size 5,343 cc
Chassis No. 1S2545
Engine No. 7S13494SA
This particular V12 Roadster has the desirable manual gearbox and is a quite remarkable example that has covered just 44,000 miles from new backed up by a virtually unbroken run of 25 old MOTs back to 1977 at 14,931 miles.
The current registered keeper acquired the car from renowned Jaguar specialists CMC of Bridgnorth in 2007 but has used it only very sparingly - indeed in the last 10 years it has only covered 1,000 miles. Said to be a highly original car with no signs of any previous significant restoration apart from a high quality repaint, it looks spectacular in white with a nicely preserved black leather interior and a good black soft top.
Taxed until the end of December and MOTd until March 2014, it comes with a good history file right back to the early 1980s to show regular maintenance and still has the original owner's handbook. In 2000 it was treated to a major bout of mechanical fettling including a complete new clutch kit, new steering rack, full brake and suspension overhaul and much work to the engine with a bill on file for some £9,300.
Beautifully preserved and with an ultra-low mileage, it is sure to be of interest to the serious Jaguar collector and looks a shrewd investment at the sensible guide price suggested - just take a look at what some dealers are asking for cars in this condition.

Car now offered at:

Seller's description:
Le Riche Automobile Restorers Ltd. Jersey, United Kingdom
1974 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster
Registration plate: Jersey registered
Chassis Number: 1S 2545
Engine Number: 7S 13494SA
Engine Capacity: 5343 cc
Transmission: 4-speed manual
Mileage: 46,505
Body style: 2-door Roadster
Interior color: Black
Exterior color: White
This is a very tidy, smart and usable low mileage example of the last of the E-Type series, sporting the most sophisticated powerplant fitted to the model. It runs and drives as it should and simply needs a new owner to enjoy it and make good use of it. The car is currently Jersey registered and the local registration plate is not included in the asking price but might be available, subject to separate negotiation.
The Series 3 Roadster offered here was first registered in July 1974 and appears to have spent much of its early life in and around the London area. Whilst we don’t have a complete history, the sizeable file accompanying the E-Type does contain MOT certificates ranging from 1977 to 2014 which confirm the recorded mileage to be genuine, with only a couple of thousand miles subsequently added following a change of ownership and the car’s import and re-registration in Jersey in 2015.
Body
We don’t have a record of any major bodywork restoration or repainting work having been carried out but given the very good condition of the body and paint finish, feel this must have been addressed at some point in not so distant past. The underside is solid, clean and has been extensively undersealed. In 2014 a new hood was fitted and in 2015, a new windscreen. The car sits on chrome wire wheels and all brightwork is present and in good condition.
Mechanical
The records we have show that significant mechanical renovation work took place in 2000 – to both the running gear and the engine and its ancillaries. On moving to Jersey, the car received regular attention and maintenance – including the fitment of a full stainless steel exhaust system – but following a period of little use recently, it is currently receiving some light re-commissioning work to ensure it runs and drives just well as it should and in keeping with its good looks.
Interior
The interior of the E-Type looks original and does show some signs of wear. The car is sold together with a full interior restoration kit – which includes seat base foams, but not new leather seat coverings - purchased a few years ago but not yet fitted, the previous owner preferring the patinated look. A wood-rimmed steering wheel compliments the dashboard, which is complete and in good condition. A modern, classic style radio/audio unit has been fitted.
Asking Price £ 79,950
