Sold by the Classic and Sports Car Centre of Malton in January 2017. Seller's description below. The URL is

This 1974 UK supplied E Type V12 Roadster has just arrived with us from North Wales. This car offers a fabulous opportunity to buy a UK matching numbers car with a recorded mileage of 33,000 (service and maintenance records go back to 1981), that was previously owned by Maurice Saatchi of Saatchi and Saatchi Garland Compton Ltd in 1976 for very sensible E Type roadster money. XYE363N is an excellent driving, usable example that is capable of long distance touring or just simple weekend use and whilst very presentable in areas, it can be further improved.

Mechanically the E Type has had in the region of £8,000 spent in 2015 on improvements to include a suspension overhaul, new brakes, carburettors stripped down, new float valves fitted, new axle mounts, fresh gearbox oil, reconditioned steering rack and new tyres. A comprehensive history file documents all repairs and maintenance from when the car was seven years old and its quite clear the car has never been long period off the road and has not ever required a full restoration. It has been well maintained and kept in order to remain a reliable, usable classic. XYE363N is a great driver and once warmed up the V12 engine runs beautifully and offers impressive power and performance. The car holds good oil pressure, keeps a good temperature, the automatic gearbox changes smoothly and the kick down works, the steering is precise as it should be with a rebuilt steering rack and the car handles and brakes superbly. It feels lovely on the road and is great fun to drive.

The E Type started life in Turquoise with Green upholstery. Many years ago the E Type was colour changed to Black and Red brand new leather upholstery fitted. The interior was also treated to a walnut dash cover and red mohair hood. The carpets, seats, dash and door cards are all in lovely condition. The body shell is strong, straight but not perfect. There have been repairs to sills over the years and the odd minor blister is evident on the paintwork. The most recent owners, busy hotel owners have not been interested in cosmetics or taking the car to shows, they simply wanted a reliable E Type to jump in and the car has been perfect for this. When they bought the car they were based in Chelsea so the car was used for city driving, now based in the Welsh countryside they have had the opportunity to really use the car on the open road. Due to their business venture there is no time to enjoy the car on the open road so we were approached. Chrome work is of a very good standard, so are the chrome wire wheels and tyres, the engine bay is clean, so is the boot area. There are certainly faults you could pick with this car, but it represents excellent value and has some very strong points.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
