Auction description:
Lot 537: 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Sale Of Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, Bonhams & Butterfields (18th August 2006)

Overview
Handsomely finished in Argentinian Racing Blue (one of six in this color), this Series III V12 E-Type was restored in year 2000, subsequently being converted to wire wheels and receiving a new blue canvas top (in 2005). A California car all its life, it offers the benefits of the ‘full power’ (pre-detox) engine, automatic transmission and small front over-riders, universally considered far more attractive than the subsequent ‘5mph’ type. Fast, reliable and possessing fabulous quality and finish, this highly desirable V12 E-Type is offered with partial service history and Certificate of Title.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
