Details
Offered here is, probably, one of the finest example of a S3 Roadster available today. Originally supplied, new, to Mr. Martin Bolton through Byatts of Fenton Ltd. Stoke on Trent on the 27 of July 1974, with whom it remained until January1992. The car was then bought by Barry Montague Peters of Deeping St James, Peterborough, with the intention of restoring it. As is often the case, this never happened and the car remained in dry storage from 1992 to 2006, when it was acquired by the vendor, who did undertake a Nut and Bolt restoration of the highest quality.
The history of the restoration is dotted with all the right names. RS Panels did all the panel work , chassis work and fitted the new Abbey Panels, bonnet. They rebuilt the body, including new engine frames, then it was acid dipped before being painted. Suffolk and Turley completely retrimmed the car and supplied the new hood. Burlen Services (SU Carbs) supplied the SU Carburettor conversion kit. The 5 x chrome wire wheels are genuine Dunlop items. SNG Barrett supplied a host of parts and Jaguar Specialists, CFS Motors rebuilt the engine, gearbox and rear axle. The original Opus ignition has been replaced with SNG Barrett Electronic ignition, the cooling fans are uprated and the car has been rebuilt using only the best of everything.
Finished in Azure blue with dark blue leather the car is equipped with the more desirable manual transmission and can only be described as being in Concours Condition. It is offered complete with the original Passport to Service booklet, complete tool kit and all the original owners handbooks. The car has covered 165 miles since the completion of the restoration in April 2009.
