Car to be at auction 1/16
russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/&current_index=106&auction_pk=162&page=featured

Auction description:
1969 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Consignment # 5262
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 27th - 31st, 2016 at Russo and Steele's 16th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction.

This outstanding 'Series II' E-Type roadster from 1969 clearly benefits handsomely from a fresh, total "nut and bolt" restoration performed by Charles T. Herchert and the Jaguar marquee specialists at British Independent Service of Car Country in Carlsbad, California. Beginning as a three-owner car from new, accompanied by service records dating from 1970 and the tool bags, the E-Type is equipped with new wiring and remains factory-stock with the exception of such desirable updates as electronic ignition, exhaust headers, and an aluminum radiator. Running very well and as it should, having travelled only limited test miles since completion, this excellent 'Series II' E-Type has not yet been shown, providing you the opportunity to show it with pride for the first time or to enjoy its performance as originally intended with the top down along a winding road!

This striking right hand drive (originally left hand drive) E Type is believed to have ben delivered new to California, where it dwelled in the garage of its first owner for the better part of two decades. The second California owner would use the Jaguar sparingly before putting it into long term storage. The car remained in his ownership for many years until 2012, when a noted San Diego area Jaguar specialist acquired the car and soon embarked on a comprehensive restoration.

Although the car is reported to have been in good, original condition at the time, and the mileage of just over 84,000 miles was believed to be genuine, the E Type roadster received new paint and upholstery to the highest standards in black over red. The car's mechanical systems were comprehensively restored as well, while a few tasteful upgrades were added including a full stainless steel exhaust system and aluminium radiator for improved cooling.

Today this striking E Type presents beautifully inside and out, it has received the important 'shake down' miles since the restoration and is a great looking example of the second generation E Type. Supplied with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate and Certificate of Title from California, this has been priced extremely competitively.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
