    At online auction selling 10/5/2018

    Reserve Not Met @ $59,500 10/5/2018

Bring a trailer - now shows 71K miles

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a Series II example powered by a 4.2-liter twin-cam straight-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. A refurbishment was performed in 2013, including engine and gearbox rebuilds, metalwork, a repaint in Signal Red, a new soft top, and a reupholstered Biscuit leather interior. Maintenance within the last two years included rebuilt Zenith carburetors, new shocks, front suspension bushings and ball joints, and more as detailed below. This XKE was purchased by the seller in 2016 and has been driven about 9k miles since. It is now offered with service records since 2013, factory literature, and a clean California title in the seller's name.

Work completed in 2013 included metalwork and rust repair on the sheet metal and floors, a repaint in Signal Red, new door and lid seals, and a new tan soft top and rear window. Chips are noted on the leading edges and the brightwork is said to have a few imperfections. A trunk-mounted steel luggage rack is not currently installed but is included with the sale as shown in the gallery. New Cibie front lights were installed in 2016, as were new covers for the side, rear, and indicator lights.

Wide 15″ Dayton Wire Wheels wear 205/70 Dunlop tires date coded from 2012. The master cylinder and brake booster were replaced and a brake fluid service was performed in July 2018, and brake work in 2012 and 2013 included new calipers with stainless steel pistons, as well as new rotors, hoses, and pads. New front and rear shocks and front suspension bushings were installed in 2017, and new ball joints were installed in 2016.

The interior was reupholstered with Biscuit leather in 2013, and the matching carpets, door panels, console cover, and black dash pad were also replaced at this time. Coco mats were fitted in 2016.

The 5-digit odometer shows 71k miles, 9k of which were added by the seller. A new rearview mirror was installed and the clock was repaired in 2016, and a speedometer and tachometer repair was performed in 2015. A RetroSound radio is currently equipped, and a period Blaupunkt unit is included in the sale.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, both of which were rebuilt in 2013 with new rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, and a valve job. A new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing were said to have been installed during the refurbishment, as were a new alternator, starter, and Bell stainless steel exhaust. Maintenance performed since the refurbishment included:

    2017 - Rebuilt Zenith carburetors, oil/filter change

2016 - New air cleaner assembly, two new radiator fan motors, Pertronix distributor and ignition, wires, thermostat and housing, Delco alternator, heater water control valve, fuel pump The seller notes occasional drops of oil after the car has been sitting.

Service records covering current ownership and the refurbishment are included in the sale, as are factory literature, photographs chronicling the work, and a spare tire.
